Grandma Over lived to celebrate her 81st birthday on Nov. 18th. She is very spry, and yet able to cook big dinners and do all kinds of house work when required. Her hearing and memory is still perfect and only uses glasses when reading and sewing. She was born in Maryland, where the battle of Antietam was fought in 1863 and in babyhood moved to Franklin County, Pa., where she lived until 1856, when they came here. She was Margaret Carolus as a girl and lived to have 58 years of happy wedded life. Mr. Over passed away at the age of nearly 82 years in the year 1910. Grandma has always been a busy woman, having 8 children of her own and raising several orphan childrren beside four grandchildren and also caring for four of her great grandchidlren during their mothers widowhood and while the mother was at work to provide for them. Her many friends here congratulate her and wish her many, many years yet of such health and ability. (Contributed by Larry Reynolds)

A wedding that came as somewhat of a surprise took place at Amboy several days ago, when Virgil Patch and Freda Johnson Bushman plighted their vows in holy wedlock. The bride is a daughter of Henry Johnson, a former resident of Jordan, and is an accomplished young lady. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Patch of Franklin Grove, who were former residents of this place. He holds a good positoin with the state in road work and has many relatives here who, with many other friends, extend congratulations. They will make their home in Dixon.
