Mrs. Phebe Shumaker, who is confined to her home by illness, is reported not so well.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bitters and son William of Minneapolis are visiting at the Henry Springman home. Mr. Bitters is Mrs. Springmans nephew.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Broderick and family were dinner guests Sunday at the James Brodereick home in Sterling. Their son P.J. who spent the past week at the home of his grandparetns, returned home with them.
Mrs. Clarence Potts and mrs. Saddie Siddens and son Charles visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Monnier in Milledgeville Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus Hensen and family sepnt Friday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Edwin Linder in Prophetstown.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Springman of Sterling were Sunday dinner guests at the Henry Springman home, and in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Springman, MR. and Mrs. Henry Springman and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cribb were supper guests at the Bert Lenhart home in Coleta.
E.F. Riptberger of Oregon and Mrs. Charles Hartman of Chadwick were business callers at the John Appel home Wednesday.
The Claus Hensen family attended a family gathering at Lawrence park Sunday. Those present were Mr. and mrs. Fred Rhode of White Pigeon, MR. and mrs. carl Keebler of Morrison, Mr. and mrs. Edwin Liner of Prophetstown, the Walter Hoffman family of Mt. Carroll and the Peter Dietz family of Rock Falls.
Miss Hazel Fletchic spent the weekend at the home of her sister, Mrs. Edwin Linder at Prophetstown.
Maurice Kophammer is spending the week at the home of his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kophammer in Sterling.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kophammer entertained several girls from sterling at a town party Sunday. Those present were Jennie and Irva Wessels, Edith Kophamer and Bertha Stahnke.
The John Kophammer's of West Genesee, Carl Kophammer of Malvern and Edith Kophammer of Sterling are delighted over the airplane ride they enjoyed Saturday evening and are telling their friends of their experience.
Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor and son Ed were guests at dinner Friday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Beswick in Morrison.
Rev. Theo Yaekel was a dinner guest Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Conrady.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Irion and family of Morrison were dinner guests Sunday in the home of her sister, Mrs. William Grater, Jr. and family.
The all night rain Sunday night swelled the water of Rock creek to overflowing, it being as high at Appel's mill as it was last June. All of the bottom lands were flooded.
Miss Bernice Kilroy, who is taking nurses' training at St. Francis hospital in Freeport, visited from Saturday until Monday in the home of her parents, Mr. and mrs. Earl Kilroy.
Charles Potts, Mary Lou and Elsie Engelkens are ill with measles. They seem to be the three-day variety.
Wanda Bushman and Joanne Cain are spending this week at the Frank Bushman home in Coleta.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Corzett left Monday [08/26/1946] for Colorado to visit Chas. Siddens. They will spend a couple of days at the Iowa state fair.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wells have received an invitation to the wedding of Miss Grace Wells of Albany which will take place on New Year’s Day. They also received announcement of the marriage of Miss Gladys Wells, which took place the latter part of November. (Contributed by Larry Reynolds)

Most of the families in the Malvern district gathered at the schoolhouse with well filled baskets Friday evening and enjoyed a bounteous 7 o'clock picknic supper. This was the regular meeting of the P.T.A. At the business session it wa sannounced that the hotplat that had been purchased earlier in the year had been returned and exchanged for a new kerosene stove. A collection was taken up to purchase curtains for the school. The following program was presented: Piano Solo, Clair Murry; recitation, Charlene Broderick; vocal solo, Miss Margaret Stanger; instrumental music, Clair Murry and Walter Ogan; vocal solo, Faye Gowan accompanied on the piano by her sister Ruth; comedy sketch, Pa Get Took - school children. The refreshment committee appointed for the next meeting are Mrs John Kophamer, Mrs. John Appel, Mrs. Joe Bushman and Mrs. Russel Detra. The Potts, Oncken, Larkey and Murry families will provide the entertainment.
