The ninth and last meeting of the Montmorency Modern Misses 4-H club for the season took place Wednesday afternoon in the Montmorency hall. After the singing of “America” and the pledge to the flag, the girls answered roll call with “something learned at 4-H club this year.” Maxine Conklen, chairman, presented the program. There was a demonstration on skirt belting by Frances Maxey. Maxine Conklen talked on how to buy carefully and caring for hosiery. A talk and demonstration on strap holders were given by Lois Lundquist, and a talk on removing common stains by Joyce Dietz. Bernadine Waldschmidt spoke on getting clothes ready for achievement day Frances Maxey on what to do in case of fire. Other talks were “I Will Buy Carefully” by Evangeline Jurkens, “I Will Take Good Care of the Things I Have,” Theoclete Waldschmidt, and “I Will Waste Nothing,: by Elsie Iben, president of the club, who presided. There were readings by Donna Jean Cowley, Delores Kunde, Frances Maxey and Joyce Dietz and a talk on the organization of 4-H club work by Jean Burke. Leatice Fike played a piano solo. Refreshments were Karla and Leatice Fike, Frances Maxey, Joyce Dietz, Phyllis Bodiger and Donna Jean Cowley. The recreation was in charge of Donna Jean Cowley and Frances Maxey. Local achievement day was announced for Friday night and will be held in the Montmorency hall.

A farewell party was given by 50 neighbors and friends Monday night for Mr.and Mrs. John Bannick and family of Montmorency, who are moving into Rock Falls. Seven tables of euchre were enjoyed. The prizes for high scores went to Mrs. O. Oltman and herman Plautz and for low scores to Olive Maxey and Robert Maxey. Lunch was served and the family was presented a lovely linen table cloth as a farewell gift from the crowd.
