Mrs. William Franks submitted to an emergency major operation at the Sterling Public Hospital Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Naftzger were rescued from the Lathe Islands by three men Tuesday and taken to the home of Francis DeRew.
Mrs. Maude Johnson, who has been ill and staying with her son, Lionel Morse, was taken to Prophetstown Tuesday to the home of another son, Leonard. She wsa moved on account of high water.
Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Butzer entertained their pinochle club Thursday evening. There were five tables of players and Mrs. Stacy Arnett and Elmer Anderson held high score. Refreshments were served after the games.

Mrs. Clifford Morse and children and Mrs. Roy Morse were removed from their homes in the flooded section of Portland township Wednesday with boats. They were taken to the Harvey Hutzel home. Roy Morse stayed in his home as the water was receding there, and the water had gone down out of of house. Clifford Morse, Ralph Roselieb and Willard Seaholm also stayed at the Clifford Morse home. Roy and Clifford Morse have a boat between them to get around.

The Earl Beebe sale was held Thursday with a fair crowd and prices good.

L.P. Shearer, Taylor Curry and James Reiley rescued the Arthur Anderson family of Portland Township, with a boat Wednesday afternoon. The water got so high that a number of Mr. Anderson's hogs and one horse were drowned. Seventeen head of hogs were saved by driving them into the kitchen of the house.
