The election of officers of Will Enderton Post took place last Monday night. The new officers will take the chairs the first meeting in January (1897). The following are the new officers; Commander, D. Underwood; Sen. Vice Com., J.K. Williams; Jun. Vice Com., W.N. Pearl; Surgeon, G.W. James; Chaplain, E.C. Winters; Quarter Master, E.C. Palmer; Officer of the Day, J. O. Wagley; Officer of the Guard, James Arey; Trustees, J.V. McCarty, W.A. Hall, and F.D. Rosebrook; Representative to State Encampment, J.E. Durstine; Alternate, J.K. Williams.

The following are the newly elected officers of the W.R. C., elected to occupy the chairs at the beginning of the year; President, Mrs. Agnes ALlen; Sen. Vice, Mrs. Nancy Macomber; Jun Vice, Mrs. Mary Atkins; Conductor, Matilda Wetzell; Treasurer, Mrs. Cora Mingle; Chaplain, Mrs. Mary Arey. Appointed officers will be announced at next meeting.

E.D. Jackson has just received papers from the pension office at Washington giving him a dependent pension of $12 a month and back pension amounting to over $364. This sum will come very acceptably to the old gentleman and will make him not depending on any of his relatives. His wife before her death received a similar amount, but it was stopped at her demise. Mr. Jackson has rented a farm in Louisiana and will have his son, Ed and Dick Cochran go down at once and work it next year.

John Brown has been shedding corn.

Mr. & Mrs. James Fleming, of Jordan, wer visitors in this city Friday.

Miss Emma Davis of Sterling, visited the families of W.B. Emmons and G.U. Geeting Friday.

The three small children of the late Mrs. Alice Grove will be in charge of Mr. Grove's mother for the winter. Their father will also be with them.

The addition of the Congregational church is completed and all of the work was donated. The work was performed by J.D. Davis, Superintendent; S.L. Sheelock, d.O. Coe, Sid Welch, James Arey, J.L. Newton, George Mikswell, Fred Reynolds and Charles Frey.
