Smucker-Hoadely Marriage (sic; the headline spelling of the name Hoadley doesn't match the spelling in the body of the article)

The News-Palladium of Benton Harbor , Mich. of Monday, June 22 contains the following account of the marriage of Miss Marjory Smucker of this city to Mr. Leslie Hoadley of Benton Harbor , Mich , the wedding occurring Saturday evening, June 20.

“Mr. Leslie Hoadley, a talented young pianist, whose rise in the musical world has been a source of pleasure to his friends Saturday night became a benedict. He took for his bride Miss Marjory Smucker of Sterling , Ill. , and the ceremony was performed by Rev. F. L. Currey, pastor of the First Baptist church in the presence of a small company of friends. The single ring service was used. The bride was prettily dressed in silk chiffon and wore a cluster of pink roses. Roses of the same hue were used in decoration and little Dorabelle Hoadley, sister of the groom, carried the ring in the heart of a rose. She was daintily dressed in white embroidery with large yellow bow sash. The ceremony was performed at the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Hoadley, of Winans street on their 50th anniversary, making the day doubly memorable. Mr. and Mrs. Hoadley left Sunday night for Chicago to make their home. Mr. Hoadley is to be congratulated upon securing for his bride a young lady of charming personality, who is a gifted vocalist and the couple have the best wishes for future happiness.

Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served the guests after the ceremony."

[Transcriber's note: Marjory Smucker was the daughter of Samuel Wesley Schmucker and Leonora E. Day. She was the granddaughter of Jacob Schmucker & Catharine Kring who moved to Dixon, Illinois from Somerset Co., PA in 1864.]
