BENJAMIN F. BARTLOW , 1102 2nd Ave., Sterling, died at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday in Community General Hospital. Mr. Bartlow had been confined to his home for the past 10 years, although during that time he had remained active in his associations with his family and friends. He was born Feb. 26, 1880 in Carthage, Ky., a son of Albert and Martha Bartlow. He was reared and educated in that community and was married to Mary Tarvin, Jan. 29, 1908, in California, Ky., and they came to Sterling in 1910, where they made their residence since. He was employed by the Sterling Ice and Produce Co for 23 years, and later was a guard at northwestern Steel and Wire Co., until the time of his retirement, due to ill health in 1946. Mr. Bartlow was a member of the First Methodist Church, being taken into membership during the ministry of Rev. Otis. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Mary Bartlow; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Farnham, Mrs. Robert Oberbillig and Mrs. Robert DeLong, all of Sterling; one grandson, Christopher Charles Farnham, Sterling; one sister, Mrs. Grace White, California, Ky.; and one brother, James Bartlow, Amelia, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. The body was taken to the Trouth Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. tonight. Funeral arrangements will be announced Thursday.

WILLIAM L. BATY , died at 12-noon Saturday in Community General Hospital. He had been ill for the last few months. The body was taken to the Melvin Funeral Home, where final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. H. C. Hatton, pastor of the First Nazarene Church of Sterling, officiating. Burial will be in the Mennonite Cemetery at Riverside. He was born June 4, 1900 in Omaha, Neb., the son of William and Ann Barton Baty. He was married to Pearl Cantrell, Feb. 10, 1928 in Kewanee. Prior to his illness he had been employed at the Lawrence Brothers, Inc., for eight years. He was baptized in the faith of the Nazarene Church by Rev. Hatton. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Baty; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin Frey, Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Tuck, Waukegan, and Mrs. Glen Conners, Elgin; two grandsons, one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

MRS. DALE (HARRINGTON) BEAUVAIS , 73, passed away early Saturday morning in Colonial Acres Rest Home. The body was removed to the Grennan and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Sunday. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's Church, and members will recite the rosary at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Beauvais was born in Fulton, Oct. 2, 1887, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Harrington. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Carl (LaRiene) Mickelson, Sterling; one brother, Thomas Harrington, Moline; two grandchildren, Mrs. Harry W. Peterson of Rock Falls, and Donald J. Capp, of Milwaukee, Wis., She was preceded by her husband who died a year ago, and a brother, Edward Harrington.

LILLIE MAE (HORNING) BERNARDIS , 66, of 621 W. Morris St., Morrison, passed away at her home at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after an illness of several years. The body was removed to the Tomlinson Funeral Home where friends may call. funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist church. The Rev. James H. Hagerty, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in the Malvern Cemetery. Lillie May Horning was born Jan. 16, 1890, in Leola S.D.,. to John H. and Mary Allice Finich Horning. She was reared and educated in Malvern. She was married to Wesley Kool in 1910. Later she was married to John Benardis, Nov. 29, 1929. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Dudman of Pekin, Ill., and Mrs. Joseph (Jeannette) McMahon of Morrison; one brother, Harry Horning of Morrison, and four sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Illafay) Shawver and Mrs. Carl (Berniece) Wiersema of Morrison, Mrs. Maude Weber of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. J. C. (Effie) Hayden of Sacramento, Calif.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Belle Firman, Mrs. Myrtle Mallory and one in infancy.

GEORGE J. BRELSFOARD , 69, 1105 5th St., LaSalle, died at his home Tuesday. He was the father of William Brelsfoard of Rock Falls. Friends may visit the Gearhart Funeral Home, LaSalle, from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday. Also Thursday from 4o-9 p.m. at the Pullen and Boos Funeral Home at Clinton, IL. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Clinton, IL. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenny, IL. Survivors include two sons, William of Rock Falls, and Kenneth of Michigan City, Ind.; three grandchildren and six sisters. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad until his retirement.

VIOLA BLESSMAN , nee Ferris, a native of Sterling, passed away March 21 in Whittier, Calif., following a long illness. She was born in Sterling, Oct. 4, 1895. Funeral services were held today Thursday, in Whittier, and burial was in Rosehill Cemetery in that city. Surviving are her husband, Albert Blessman of West Chicago, Ill.; four children, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jeanne) Neimeyer of Torrance, Calif., and three sons, William and Douglas of Whittier, Calif., and Richard of Elgin; a brother, Grover Ferris of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Cunningham of Florida and Mrs. Florence Parker of Michigan; and five grandchildren.

BURL E. BOONE , 78, 1311 S. Broadway, Green Bay, Wis., 54304, formerly of Sterling, died Sunday evening in Green Bay. Funeral services are pending in Green Bay, Wis. Born on Nov. 20, 1903 he was employed for several years at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company. Surviving are one brother, Nicholas A. Boone, Sterling.
***Funeral services were held Wednesday in Green Bay, Wis., for Burl Boone, 78, who died Sunday. Born on Nov. 2-, 1903, the son of William J. and Lena Boone, he married the former Geraldine Lade of Green Bay. They resided in Sterling where he was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire until the time of his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Sherrill) Kleinhans, Ottawa; two sons, Gerald, Appleton, Wis., and Burl Jr., Green Bay; several grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Burdette (Stella) McHenry, Geneseo, Mrs. Ralph (Nellie) Lancaster, Des Moines, Mrs. Morris (Laura) DeCap, and Valeria, Erie; and one brother, Nicholas, Sterling. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and three brothers.

GERTRUDE (VANZUIDEN) BOS , 81, 1304 14th Ave., Fulton, died this morning at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery with the Rev. Robert VanderSchaaf, of the Trinity Reformed Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born on Aug. 28, 1901 in Fulton to Mr. and Mrs. John VanZuiden, and married Louis Bos in Fulton and he preceded her in 1951. She lived all her life in Fulton and was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church and a resident of the Harbor Crest Nursing home for the past year and one half. Surviving are five daughters, Loretta Graves, Tallahasse, Fla., Mrs. Donald (Beverly) VanKampen and Mrs. John (Shirley) Armstrong, both of Fulton, Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Perry, Byers, Colo., and Esther Fryer, Milwaukee, Wis.; 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

HOWARD LESLIE BRICKLEY , 83, of 206 Ash Ave., Morrison, died Thursday morning at Morrison Community Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, preceded by a 1:45 p.m. prayer service. Rev. Paul DeBeer will officiate and burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Friday after 2 p.m. at the Renkes-Reynolds Funeral Home. A memorial has been established. He was born Feb. 13, 1895 in Olin, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Ella Grimm Brickley. He was reared and educated in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Elsie Smith on Feb. 13, 1918 in Olin, Iowa, and the couple farmed there until 1933. They then moved to Morrison where he owned and operated the American Petroleum Service Station for many years. He also was a school bus driver for R.C. Smith Transportation. He was a member and elder of the Presbyterian Church and past president of the Morrison Lions Club. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert C. (Dorothy) Smith of Morrison; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother.

Alvin Hook, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday (today0 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 13, 1904 in Thomson, the daughter of John and Gertrude Temple Holsinger. She was a telephone operator from 1929-1966. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morrison and a former member of the Second Reformed Church of Fulton. She was a resident of Rest Have Nursing Home for one year. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Muriel) Kooi of Pella, Iowa; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Esther Holsinger of Fulton.She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.
