WILLIAM EADS
was born in Madison, Ind., Sept. 6, 1832. Died Feb. 13, 1907, at the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 7 days. When about 5 years of age he came to Illinois with his parents, who settled in this county. In Dec. 1853, he married Miss Sarah H. Carr (sic), who with six children, survives him. The children are Henry, Charles, Albert, Arthur, Edgar, and Alonson. Two died in infancy. The funeral services were held Saturday at 11 o'clock at the Mennonite church in Ustick, Rev. John Nice officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Other sources state his birth is in June. What do we want to believe? BERNICE (COY) EAGLIN
, 82, of Sterling died Sunday June 19, 2005 at Willow Wood Health Care Center, Rock Falls. Mrs. Eaglin was born May 3, 1923 in Rock Falls, the daughter of George H. and Ella (Gash) Coy Sr. She was a member of 1st Church of the Nazarene, Sterling. Survivors are a son Eugene, a brother George H. Coy Jr, a sister Darlene Rhoades; three grandchildren, Derek Eaglin, Eugenia Connors and Bambi Garnder. She was preceded by two brothers Willard and Walter Coy; a sister catherine Coy; and special friend Ellery Price. The funeral is Tuesday at the Nazarene Church, burial at Coloma Cemetery.

JAMES A. EDDINGER
, 71, of 700 W. 7th St., Rock Falls, died early Saturday morning in KSB Hospital, Dixon, following a short illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral home in Rock Falls, with Rev. Melvin Chasteen, pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Rock Falls. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
Mr. Eddinger was born Aug. 18, 1916 in Scott County in Winchester, the son of George and Lottie L. Hoots Eddinger. He married Hilda R. Throne Oct. 25, 1947 in Winchester. He was a nail machine repairman at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He attended the First Southern Baptist Church of Rock Falls and was a member of the Steel Workers union.
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Robert Eddinger, Rock Falls, Ronald Eddinger, Rockford, and Charles, William and Donald Eddinger by a previous marriage, residing in Winchester; four daughters, Mrs. Joyce Davis by a previous marriage residing in Winchester, Mrs. Maxine Knowles and Debra Eddinger, both of Rock Falls; and Mrs. Edward (Shirley) Kobbeman, Yuma, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Eileen Orris and Mrs. Vivian Newton, both of Wood River. He was preceded by one son and three brothers.

JOHN W. EDBERG
- Funeral services for John W. Edberg, 68, who died Sunday morning (24 Feb 1952) in his home in Portland Township, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Prophetstown Methodist Church, with Rev. C. F. Chasteen officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Melvin Moore, Leter Lindahl, Ernest Sawyer, LeRoy C. Johnson, John L. Johnson and Leonard Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Bayles, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Moews and Mr. and Mrs. Eli Upton assisted with flowers. Mrs. V. R. Olmstead played the organ and Lloyd Wildman sang.

LOUIS EDEUS
, 95, of Rock Falls died May 15, 2002 at Willow Wood Nursing Home, Rock Falls. He was employed by National Mfg. Sterling for 45 years, retiring as a punch press operator in 1972. Mr. Edeus was born April 8, 1907 in Sterling, the son of Albert and Gesine (Seibel) Edeus. He married E. Louise Robinson on Oct. 25, 1935 in Sterling. She died Oct. 9, 2000. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling. He did woodworking for 20 years after his retirement. Earlier in life he enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. Survivors include two sons, Martin (Lila) Edeus and Keith (Marsha) Edeus, both of Rock Falls; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He wa spreceded in death by his brothers and sisters and a grandchild. The funeral is at 10 am Saturday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling, with the Rev. Philip Gronbach, pasator, officiating. Burial is at IOOF Cemetery Rock Falls. A memorial has been established to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling.

MARGARET EDWARDS
- A requiem high mass was said in Sacred Heart Church for the late Mrs. Margaret Edwards at 9 o'clock this morning. Rev. Fr. Ambrose Weitekamp of St. Ann's Church, Prophetstown, was the celebrant in place of Rev. Fr. M. B. Krug, pastor, who was ill. At the masses in Sacred Heart Church Sunday morning, Father Krug paid a splendid tribute to the memory of Mrs. Edwards, who, he said, was one woman out of a hundred.
The casket attendants were Percy Clutterham, Norman Clutterham, Gus Williams, Harry Joseph and Roy Piers. Committal was in Calvary Cemetery.
Out-of-town attendants were Roger Dixon of Seattle, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith and daughters of Chicago, and Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Smith of Momence. The Smith brothers and Roger Dixon are nephews.

TOM EDWARDS
, age 48, of Morrison, Illinois, previously of Mt. Carroll, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at CGH Hospital, Sterling. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 21 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Tom’s memory.
Tom was born October 9, 1960 in Savanna, the son of William and Betty (Chapman) Edwards. He is a graduate of the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1979. After High School, Tom went to Alaska to work. He returned to the Mt. Carroll area where he became a Milk Hauler. On December 9, 1992, Tom married Nancy Gorzney in Mt. Carroll.
He hauled milk for himself and later worked for his brother. He always dreamed of returning and retiring to Alaska.
Tom was a loving father and husband. His children loved to hear his "stories" about life. Whenever friends or family visited, Tom was quick to offer them food and wanted them to be comfortable and stay for a while.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Nancy of Morrison; two sons, Tom Edwards, Jr. And Tyler Edwards, both of Morrison; five daughters, Toshua (Johnny) Rodgers of Mississippi, Alicia (Geoff) Strahl of Alaska, Aimee Marruffo of Clinton, Iowa, Anna Edwards and Michelle Edwards, both of Morrison; four grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Blake and Kaitlyn; four brothers, Billy Edwards of Mt. Carroll, Terry (Penny) Edwards of Thomson, Gary Edwards of Mt. Carroll and Rick (Alice) Edwards of Stockton; five sisters, Deb (Dave) Davenport of Savanna, Nancy (David) Williams of Freeport, Peggy (Bill) Shaw of Savanna, Beatrice Griffin of Freeport and Barbara (James) Foley of Savanna; and a brother in-law, John Bork of Savanna. Tom is preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Joyce.

MAUDE EDWARDSON
, 91, of Civic Plaza 1, Rock Falls, died Saturday morning in the Sterling Care Center, following an extended illness.
Funeral services are pending at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral Home in Rock Falls and will be announced upon completion.

EDWARD T. EGAN
, 82, a retired farmer of Deer Grove, died at his home on Monday. Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Grennan Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Tampico. Visitation will be from 2 until 9 p.m Tuesday at the funeral home, with the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Edw. T. Egan was born Feb. 11, 1892 in Hamilton Township in Lee County, the son of Michael and Ellen Ford Egan. He was married to the former Blanche Scully who preceded him in death. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 662 in Sterling.
He is survived by one son, Roland Egan of Deer Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Genevieve) Devine of Harmon and Mrs. Leo (Helen) Miller of Sterling; one sister, Sister Mary Sara Egan of Evanston; one brotheer, James Egan of Salt Lake City, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

JOHN LEROY EGAN
, one and one-half day old twin, son of Mr.and Mrs. Leo Egan, passed away at the Princeton Hospital Monday evening. Short funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Parent Funeral Home in Tampico. Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tampico. The infant is survived by his parents, his twin brother, James Francis, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Peach and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Egan.

JOHN I. EGAN
, 86, a well-known, prominent farmer and lifelong resident of Hahnaman Township, passed away Saturday evening at 9:05 in the Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton, after a brief illness.
Mr. Egan was born on Aug. 23, 1878 in Hahnaman Township, the son of Michael and Ellen Ford Egan. He was united in matrimony with Emma Mary Welch in st. Brendans' Church, Chicago, by Rev. L. X. DuFour on Feb. 21, 1906. He served as a member of his local school board for many years and was very active in community affairs.
Surviving are one son and one daughter, Vincent E. of Ohio, Ill., and Mrs. Florence Sharp of Rockford, three grandchildren, Ann Egan of Ohio, Ill., and John and Mary Sharp of Rockford. He also leaves one sister, Sister Mary Sara of Chicago and three brothers, William of Tampico, Edward of Deer Grove and Paul J. of New Jersey.
Preceding Mr. Egan in death were his wife, three sons, Roland, Thomas and Charles, his parents, five brothers and one sister.
The body of Mr. Egan reposes at the Ross Funeral Home in Walnut and may be viewed Monday after 3 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home by Rev. Ambrose Weitekamp. The funeral will be held in St. Mary's Church Tampico, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. (Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery)

THOMAS A. EGAN
, aged 44 years, a World War veteran, passed away suddenly at 11:30 o'clock Thursday morning in the Burlington Depot at Deer Grove. Coroner C. M. Frye conducted the inquest Thursday, the verdict of the jury being that "he came to his death by an acute attack of myocarditis." Martin Swanberger was one of the witnesses at the inquest. The members of the jury were: Jerry Keefe, Paul Dawson, John Kolb, Rudolph Haase, Paul Wagenknect, Jack Coney and Carl Hof. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rev. Father T. O. McGuire will officiate.
Mr. Egan had spent practically all of his life in Tampico. For a short time he had been staying with a brother, Edward Egan, at Hahnaman. The remains were removed to the Parent Funeral Parlor in Tampico.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Michael Egan, and seven brothers, Richard, William and James of Tampico, Rev. Father T. V. Egan of Gilman, Joseph, Frank, John and Edward of Hahnaman, and a sister Sarah, who is a nun, at Wauwatosa, Wis.

TIM A ESSLINGER
, 24, Sterling, died Tuesday morning in an auto accident in Sterling. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, the Rev. L. F. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Leon Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown. Memorial may be made t othe First Lutheran Church or the Heart Fund.
He was born July 20, 1952 in Sterling, son of Mel and Phyllis (Weber) Esslinger, who now live in Prophetstown. He was educated in Prophetstown and Lyndon schools and moved to Sterling in 1972. He is survived by parents, one sister, Deedee; one brother, Gary, both at home; and his paternal grandmother. He is preceded in death by a brother. He was employed as a fork-lift operator by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. and was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
