LAWRENCE E. HAAK , 22, 509 Sixth avenue, died this morning at 12:45 following a serious operation to which he submitted Jan. 14. Funeral will be held Friday afternoon at the Trouth funeral home and at 1:30 at the second Ave. Lutheran church. Rev. Eldor Mueller officiating. Interment will be in Riverside. Lawrence E. Haak was born in Jordan Twp. April 27, 1921 and attended teh Jordan grade schools and later the Sterling High School. He wsa married to Miss Elizabeth Oltmann June 13, 1943 (Another obit says the 16th) at the Lutheran Church parsonage. He is survived by his widow, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haak, two sisters Betty Haak and Mrs. Ted Weidel; one brother Pfc. Elwyn Haak somewhere in the British Isles; also by his paternal grandmother and maternal grandparents. Mr. Haak was engaged in the trucking business as a member of the firm of Haak & Weidel.

WILLIAM J. HAAK , 904 W. 6th St., Sterling, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Haak was born Sept. 30, 1893 in Germany, the son of Henry and Minner Guinther Haak. He came to the United States at the age of two with his parents and resided in this area since that time and farmed north of Sterling for many years, retired from farming in 1942. After moving to Sterling he was employed by International Harvester Company. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bonnell and Mrs. Eugene (Marjorie) McCarter of Sterling; two sisters, Miss Alma Haak of Sterling and Mrs. Anna Crook of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Henry B. Haak of Sterling, and Herman A. Haak of Denver, Colo., and three grandsons. His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death, as did a daughter, Ruth, who died in 1948. The body was moved to the Melvin Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m Wednesday in the funeral home, Rev. Warren C. Weeg, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.

MYRTLE HANEY - Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Haney, 80, were held March 16 in the Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Clark of the First Baptsit Church of Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Sterling. Casket bearers were Kennth Kirst of Carpentersville, Joe Spect and Albert Forward of Tampico, Clarence Brown of Sterling, Neale Waite and Lyle Paschal of Morrison. The organist, Mrs. Eloise Stone, played a prelude and postlude to the services.

HOMER HANKENSON , 72, 1540 S. 18th St., Charleston, died Sunday (12 Dec 1982) at the Hilltop Nursing Center, Charleston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, Charleston. The body will be cremated and burial services will be held in Rock Falls. Born on July 7, 1910 in Nebraska he received his BA from Carthage College and a Masters at the University of Kentucky. He married Ruth Corkright in 1934 and was a teacher and coach at public schools in Paxton, Pana, Ottawa, and Waukegan. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; two sons, Lou Hankenson, Charleston and Terry, Swedesboro, NJ; and 6 grandchildren. Preceding were one brother and one sister.

>ANTONIA MARGARITE (REMMERS) HANS - Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Hans who passed away in her home Friday evening were held Monday after in the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Rev. Elmer J. Lindholm, pastor, officiated, and burial was made in Grove Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ernest Remmers, George Hayen, Dewey Klimstra, Ben Rushmeyer, John Duden and Leroy Hans. Friends in charge of the beautiful floral tributes were Miss Clara Wilson and Mrs. Ray Hall. Mrs. Elmer Lindholm and Mrs. Paul Kier sang appropriate selections, accompanied by Miss Helen Puddifoot.

>JAMES HARSHMAN - an elderly gentleman living in Summit place, died Sunday morning at 4 o’clock after a short illness. Mr. Harshman had just completed his sixty-seventh year on the fifth of this month. A wife and nine children mourn his death – eight sons and one daughter. The children are all grown and are some what scattered, so it is hardly possible that they can all be at the funeral. Mr. Harshman was born and lived in Frederick country, Maryland, until he came west twenty-seven years ago. He was of quiet and retiring nature and was most highly esteemed by those who knew him best. He has long been a member of the Dunkard church and was looked upon by his fellow members, as a “father in Israel”. The funeral service was held in the Dunkard church Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The presence of a large number of friends and relatives testified to the love that was held for the deceased. The services were conducted by his pastor Rev. P.R. Keltner. The Standard offers its sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.

BARBARA (KRUMTINGER) HEATON - 75, of Prophetstown, died Mon., Dec. 17, 2007, at home after a long illness. Mrs. Heaton was born Sept. 4, 1932 in Kewanee, the daughter of Richard and Edith (Johnson) Krumtinger. She married Rollin Heaton Jr. on July 11, 1953 in Kewanee. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Prophetstown. Survivors include her husband; a son, Leon (Kim Jensen) Heaton of Prophetstown; five daughters, Jane (Luke Besse) Casanova, of Hampton, Pat (Jim) Friedrichs, of Sterling, Susan (Neil) Dewey of Geneseo, Paula (Rory) Fotzler of Lancaster, Wis., and Amy (Bill) Jones of Prophetstown; a brother, Richard (Priscilla) Krumtinger of Mount Prospect; a sister-in-law, Alice Krumtinger of Cambridge; 14 grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Prophetstown. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. with the rosary recited at 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements were completed by Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Prophetstown.

ELIZA J. (ROBERTSON) HEATON - At the home of her daughter, Mrs. N.J. Thomas, in Mt. Pleasant township, on Wednesday, May 29, 1895, Mrs. Alfred Heaton, aged 67 years, 9 months and 11 days. Eliza J. Robertson was born August 18, 1827, in Washington Co. N.Y. and came to Illinois in an early day. She was married to Alfred Heaton May 11, 1845, at Unionville near this city, and resided in this vicinity ever since with the exception of twelve years in Clark County, S.Dakota. May 11, last, she with her husband and many friends celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage. She was the mother of seven children, the oldest of whom, James W. Heaton, served his country during the war of the Rebellion and died at Geiseboro Pt., D.C. April 27, 1864. The youngest child is also dead. The children surviving and who attended the funeral are as follows: Mrs. W.P. Hiddleson, and Mrs. N.J. Thomas of this township; Mrs. Oliver King of Plymouth Co., Iowa; Mrs. Frank Babcock of Clark Co. S.Dakota; Mrs. A.J. Gallentine of Kearney Neb. Mrs. Heaton has been in poor health and an invalid for a number of years, being unable to walk without the aid of crutches. A few days previous to her death she was afflicted with pneumonia and although everything was done that possibly could be, she sankrapidly and at 7:30 Wednesday mornign breathed her last. Mrs. Heaton had a large circle of friends who sincerely mourn her departure and extend sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral services conducted by Rev. W.E. Leavitt were held at her late home on Thursday afternoon, the remains interred in the Heaton Cemetery.

>NORMA JEAN (SMITH) HEIDE - 67, of DeKalb died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites were accorded by Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, DeKalb. Burial was at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. A memorial has been established to Alzheimer's Association. Mrs. Heide was born May 13, 1931, in Milledgeville, the daughter of Robert W. and Cora (Layton) Smith. She graduated from Milledgeville High School in 1949. She married Kenneth F. Heide on Nov. 21, 1951, at Coleta United Methodist Church. He survives. She was employed by DeKalb School District and DeCor Plywood, DeKalb, as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1985. She was active on the DeKalb Womens Bowling Team until she became disabled. She was a member of the DeKalb United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Lee W. Heide; a brother, Larry Smith of Phoenix; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

GESINE L.A. (EDEUS) HEILENER , 70, Emerson, RR 3, Sterling died Wednesday afternoon at Community General Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Warren Weeg officiating. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Park. Friends may call from 3-9 Thursday at the Behrens-Blair Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her name. Gesine Edeus was born April 25, 1904, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Edeus. She attended Genesee schools. She and her husband had operated the Emerson Store and Post Office for many years. She married Walter Heilener in Genesee Twp. on August 27, 1924. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) George, Emerson; Mrs. Robert (Lorraine) Kniel, Dixon; one son, the Rev. Raymond Heilener, Galena; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and three brothers, Louis, Fred and Alfred, all of Rock Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

ONKE MEINERS HEILENER , for more than 50 years engaged in farming near Sterling, passed away at 11 o'clock Wednesday night (20 Feb. 1935) at the family home in Jordan Twp. about 4 miles north of Sterling on Route 40. Mr. Heilenere had been in failing health for several years, but continued active in his work about his farm ntil June of last year. Just recently his condition became critical, since which time he had been bedfast. Mr. Heilener wsa born in Javerland, Germany, Feb. 4, 1865. When a young man of 17 years he came to the US and directly to a farm near Sterling. Just before Christmas 1893 he returned to Germany for a visit, accompanied by Bertha Frerichs, and upon their arrival at Baltimore, Md., March 26, 1894 they were united in marriage. They have since resided on farms near this city. Besides the widow, three sons and three daughters survive - George of Sterling, Fred of Morrison, Walter of Emerson, Mrs. Henry Hinrichs of north of Sterling, Mrs. William Bartz of Emerson and Mrs. Detimer Biller of Sterling. One son passed away in infancy. One sister, Mrs. Marie Raddatz, who resides in the state of Oregon, also survives. Mr. Heilener was a faithful member of the St. Paul Lutheran church of Sterling. Funeral rites will be at the church at 2 o'clock Saturday, preceded by a short service at the family home at 1:15 o'clock. Rev. G.H. Doermann will be charge of the servies. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.

GERALD HEISINGER , 71, of 106 Crab Apple Court, Dixon, died Tuesday (26 Feb 1991) at KSB Hospital following a short illness. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Episcopal Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Patrick T. Twomey officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Calvary Cemetery, Oshkosh, Wis. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Heisinger was born April 17, 1919 in Oshkosh, Wis., the son of Edward and Sarah (Flynn) Heisinger. He married Violet N. Owen Dec. 2, 1944 in Charlottesville, Va. As a member of the U.S. Army during World War II he served as a military policeman in San Diego Calif., and Korea. He worked for Kraft Food Inc. for 36 years, retiring in 1982 as a vice-president. From 1948-1955 he was employed at Kraft’s Milledgeville plant. He was a member of the Grace Commission in 1983, serving under Agriculture Secretary John Block. He also initiated the Carroll County Fair. Mr. Heisinger also was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church, Dixon. He is survived by his wife; one son, Gerald F. Heisinger, Jr.; tahree daughaters, Mrs. Robert (Polly) Olson, Austin, Texas, Martha Heis of Carol Stream and Mrs. David (Mary) Cardin, Westfield, N.J.; two brothers, Edward of Chicago and Charles of Glenview; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and one daughter.

ALPHONSE HERMIE , 66, passed away Sunday morning at his home near Prophetstown. The body was removed to the Gardner Funeral Home, where friends may call at the chapel. The rosary will be recited tonight at the Gardner Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. (CST) at St. Catherine's Church, Prophetstown. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Tampico. He was born July 4, 1888 in Belgium, the son of Peter and Lois Van Hyfte Hermie. He was educated in Belgium and came to the United States in 1913. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I and returned to Belgium after the war where he married on Sept. 2, 1921. He and his wife returned to this country after their marriage and lived in the Kewanee, Atkinson and Annawan communities before moving to Prophetstown 26 years ago. He was a member of St. Catherine's Church and the American Legion Post 522. He is survived by his wife, Madeline; one son, Noey, Prophetstown; four daughters, Mrs. Ed (Louise) Maes, Tampico; Mrs. Ray (Irene) Maes, Mrs. Ernest (Joey) Verhulst and Mrs. Delner (Mary Ann) Doubler all of Prophetstown; one sister, Sister Clothilde, Belgium; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, three sisters and eight brothers.

GERALD HEUSINGER , 51, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was a CLU and Regional Manager for Midland National. Mr. Heusinger was born Aug. 31, 1951, in Menominee, Mich., the son of Howard and Joyce (Shefky) Heusinger. He graduated from Edgewood High School in Madison, Wis. and the University of Wisconsin. He married Dianne Puckett Vasquez December 6, 1991, in Sterling, Ill. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, Ill. Rock River Country Club and several Professional Insurance Organizations. He was an avid golfer, a Green Bay Packer fan, and loved cooking. Survivors include his wife, Dianne of Sterling, Ill.; two sons, Jason Heusinger of Milwaukee, Wis., Alan Vasquez of Sterling, Ill.; a daughter, Jennifer Vasquez of Madison, Wis.; his father, Howard Heusinger of Madison, Wis.; one brother, Steven (Julie) Heusinger of Madison, Wis.; and three sisters, Peggy (Robert) Brown, Mary Jacobs, both of Madison, Wis., and Marsha (Paul) Beloungy of Sauk City, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his mother, Joyce Heusinger; paternal grandparents, Marie and Joseph Heusinger; and maternal grandparents, Mildred and John Shefky. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, STERLING, ILL., with Father Paul White, celebrant, officiating. JOHN PHILLIP HEY - The funeral of John P Hey, 88 who passed away a 4 am Friday morning (Feb 2, 1945), at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Harshman, 1402 1st ave. after an illness of four months duration will be held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Melvin Funeral home. The Rev. Bouldin pastor of Trinity Evangelical Church will officiate and burial will be at Praireville cemetery with the members of the Sterling I O O F lodge in charge of the services at the grave. Mr. Hey was born Feb 11, 1856 at Poughkeepsie NY. His parents, Clementine and Jacob Hey brought him to Sterling when he was less than 1 year old. He became a farmer then became engaged in manufacturing and later still in contracting in this city and vicinity. In February 1878, Mr. Hey married Mary Baer who preceded him in death in Feb. 1921. Later he married Mrs. Laura Kagay Judkins at Effingham. She died in California in 1928. Since 1929 Mr.Hey made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Mary Marshman 1402 1st ave. He is also survived by another daughter Mrs. Gerna Harshman who likewise lives in Sterling and by three sons, Clement and Abraham of Sterling and Henry of Dixon. A son Ira preceded him in death in 1922. Mr. Hey was the last of his family - 2 sisters and 2 brothers, a half sister and a half brother.

MARGARET (STOLTZ) HEY wife of Henry S. Hey, passed away this morning in her home at 212 Madison Ave., Dixon, after an extended illness. Funeral rites will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Melvin Funeral Home, Dixon, by the Rev. Sidney Bloomquist of the Dixon Methodist Church. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Mrs Hey was born April 4, 1897, in Sterling, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret Hummel Stoltz. She is survived by her husband and two sons, and one daughter, Dean E., and James O. of Dixon and Mrs. Beulah M. Yetter of Tipton, Ia.; also by a brother, A. C. Stoltz, of Mount Vernon, Ia.; a sister, Mrs. Julia Hummel of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and nine grandchildren.

LAWRENCE W. HIXON passed away at the Elgin State Hospital at 6:25 p.m. after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held at the Wheelock Funeral Home Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Bloomquist of the Fourth Street Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Hixon was born in Sterling, August 2, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Hixon, deceased. His early life was spent in Sterling and Rock Falls. He served as assistant fire chief of Rock Falls several years and was also in the electrical department. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Glen Phillips of California and one brother, Herbert H. Hixon, of Evanston, Ill. Mr. Hixon was a veteran of World War I. Rock Falls Legion Post 9902 will have charge of the services at the grave.

MARY ANN (BUELL) HOLLDORF , 72, of Sterling, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ann was born Sept. 13, 1937, in Morrison, the daughter of Creighton Sam and Florence Pearl Buell. She was united in marriage to Lloyd D. Holldorf on June 12, 1955, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Falls. Mary Ann rarely missed a sporting event or school function in which her children participated. She thoroughly enjoyed the players on their teams, and occasionally enjoyed booing the umpires. For a number of years, Mary Ann Volunteered her time working at the gift shop at CGH Medical Center. In recent months, she spoke often as to how deeply touched she was by the generous outpouring of friendship and support provided by her close friends. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lloyd; her three children, Mark Holldorf and Shane (Brenda) Holldorf, both of Sterling, and Jason (Karie) Holldorf of Bartlett; eight grandchildren, Daesha, Nicholaas, Emily, and Abigail Holldorf of Sterling, Ashley Sutton of Sterling, and Madelin, Jackson, and Creighton Holldorf of Bartlett; one sister, Peggy (Marvin) Kramer of Garden Prairie; and two brothers, Larry Lewis and Bruce Buell. She was preceded in death by her father, Creighton; her mother, Florence; and her brothers, Ed Buell an Jim Buell. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at Schilling Funeral Home, 702 First Ave., Sterling. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

TROY JAMES HOLLOWAY , 66 of 913 W. 21st St., Rock Falls, died in his home early Friday morning after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral Home in Rock Falls on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. A. E. Anderson, pastor of the Fairview Evangelical Congregational Church of Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Friends may call at the funeral home in Rock Falls from 7-9 p.m. on Friday. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Troy Holloway was born Sept. 4, 1909 in Mt. Vernon, Ill., the son of George W. and Carrie B. Bond Holloway. He was united in marriage to Eva Tighe on Dec. 12, 1936 in Rockford. They lived their entire married life in the Rock Falls area. He was employed at Northwestern Steel & Wire for 37 years as a crane operator, retiring in September, 1973. He is survived by his widow, Eva; four sons, LeRoy, Charles, Robert and Elmer, all of Rock Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Rose and Mrs. Clarence (Shirley) Eades, Both of Rock Falls; two sisters, Mrs. James (Violet) Gilbert of Rochelle and Fleeta Tracey of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Jul Holloway of Rochelle, Chester Holloway of Rock Falls and Kenneth Holloway of DeKalb; 25 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

HENRY HOOGHEEM , 90, Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, formerly of 504 19th Ave., Fulton, died Saturday (23 July 1983) at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fred Bultman, pastor of the First Christian Reformed Church, Fulton, officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Reformed Church of Fulton or to the donors choice. Henry Hoogheem was born in Fulton on Nov. 3, 1892, the son of John Hoogheem and Anna Newendyke. On May 28, 1914 he married Stella Temple in Thomson. She preceded him on June 4, 1947. He was employed for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a car man and welder for 52 years and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Car Men of America, Local 429. He attended the First Christian Reformed Church, was an avid gardener and a lifelong Fulton resident residing at Harbor Crest since January of 1983. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Dan (Annabelle) Leonard, Mrs. Marion (Ruth) Vogel, Mrs. Francis (Nola) VenHuizen, all of Fulton, and Mrs. Eugene (Mae) Hammond, Mt. Carroll; one son, Paul R. Hoogheem, Clinton, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Peter C. (Winnie) Vogel and Mrs. Jacob (Gertrude) Norman, both of Fulton; and one brother, John Hoogheem, Fulton. Preceding him in death were his wife, Stella, three daughters, two grandson, one sister and three brothers.

FLORENCE (MOAR) HOOKER - Graveside services were held today for Mrs. Florence Hooker, 84, of 1707 Ave. D., Sterling, who died Friday evening at Sterling Care Center. The Rev. John W. Ralshus, pastor for Grace Episcopal Church, officiated. Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Florence Moar was born the daughter of John and Cora Newcomber Moar on Dec. 31, 1890 in Broadhead, Wis. She was united in marriage to D. A. O. Hooker who died in 1960. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Carol) Bates of Sterling, two grandchildren, Mrs. William (Diane) Sworm of Rockford and David Bates of Sterling, two brothers, J. K. Moar of Aurora and R. L. AGNES (GRIEDE) HUNT , 78, died Tuesday morning, March 9, in Morrison Community Hospital, where she had been for three days. The funeral will be Thursday, March 11 at 2 p.m. in the Garner Chapel. Rev. Paul Olson officiating and burial was in Riverside Cemetery She was born November 8, 1892 in Fulton and has been a resident of Prophetstown for the last 46 years. Her parents were Lubbe and Jeanette (Flikkema) Greide. She was educated in the Fulton schools and was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the United Methodist Church. She married Fred Hunt in Morrison, Oct. 21, 1911 She is survived by one son, Harold L. Hunt, of Anaheim, Calif. and three daughters: Mrs. Mary Bodenhofer of Rock Island, Mrs. Edward (Marjorie) Hanell of Moline, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Truitt of Prophetstown, one half-brother, Mino Kamphuis of Clinton, one step-brother, William Kamphuis of Fulton, one half-sister Mrs. Henrietta Arndt of Moline, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1959, two brothers and three sisters. Friends called at Gardner Chapel Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

LON HUNT - Funeral services will be held for Lon Hunt, 62, who died Oct. 22, 1954 at Eureka, Calif., in the Gardner Chapel here at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The body arrived at the Gardner Mortuary Monday evening where friends may call. The Rev. C. F. Chasteen, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery here. Lon Hunt, son of Walker and Bertha Hamlin Hunt was born and reared in England, coming to the States at the age of 17. He was married to Nellie Mapes of Prophetstown at Prophetstown, Nov. 1, 1915. Surviving is the wife and two brothers, Ernest and Sidney of Chicago. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

JANET K. (THOMAS) HURR , 54 of Obion, TN and a former Sterling Resident; died THursday morning at the Methodist Hospital in Dyersburg TN. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ridgely, TN. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Science Ridge Mennonite Cemetery, Sterling. The Rev. S. Roy Kaufman, pastor of the Science Ridge Mennonite Church will officiate. Arrangements were completed by the Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. She was born on Aug. 11, 1933 in Hollsopple PA, the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Harold Thomas Sr. Survivors include her husband, Elwood Hurr of Obion TN.; two sons, Jaime Hurr and Gregory Hurr both of Centralia IL and a daughter, Denise Juds of Obion; her parents, and a sister, Cynthia Lehman both of Hollsopple Pa. and three grandchildren.

HARVEY HUTZEL , 72, of Tucson, Ariz., who formerly lived in Erie Community, died in a hospital following an attack of pneumonia Tuesday night ( according to word received by his daughter, Mrs. Arvid Hamilton of Erie. Mrs. Hamilton left from Rock Island Wednesday afternoon for Tucson to attend the funeral services which will be held at Tucson on Friday. Mrs. Hamilton will arrive in Tucson Thursday evening. Mr. Hutzel was married to Floy Fee of Portland Township, who preceded him in death. They lived most of their lives in Erie community except for a few years in Kansas. Mr. Hutzel went to Tucson 12 years ago. He visited his daughter, Mrs. Hamilton, a year ago last October. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arvid Hamilton of Erie and Mrs. Monroe Louk of Tucson and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and one son.

MAUDE (SIEFKEN) HUYCKE , 81, of Pleasant View Nursing Home, died Saturday evening at the nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Grove Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Bledsoe of the Christian Church, Morrison, officiating. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Renkes-Reynolds Funeral Home, Morrison. A memorial has been established to the Pleasant View Nursing Home. Maude Siefken was born Sept. 22, 1900 in Whiteside County, the daughter of Garrett Otto and Anna Emmaline (Moore) Siefken. She was reared and educated in Clyde Township and was united in marriage to Arthur Hyucke on Aug. 26, 1920 in Morrison. He preceded her in death in 1955. She had lived in Morrison since her marriage. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bruckner and Mrs. Eleanor Fowler, both of Morrison; one son, Lyle of Morrison; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lola Hines of Morrison and two brothers, Clarence of Morrison and Bert of Cordova. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, one sister and three brothers.

LEE HYDE - The body of Lee Hyde, who passed away at Muskegon Heights, Mich., at 3:30 o'clock last Friday morning, arrived in Sterling Tuesday, and was taken to the home of a brother, Robert Hyde, 211 Wallace street, from where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Hyde left here last April for Muskegon Heights, where he opened a concession stand in a summer resort park. He had been ailing for several weeks, but his condition was not considered serious until just a few days before he passed away.

ROBERT A. HYDE , 75, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Friday in the Home Hospital after an extended illness. He was admitted to the hospital Wednesday. Funeral rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Melvin Funeral Home where the remains were removed. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Hyde was born October 11, 1870 in Dunlap, IA., the son of Harry (Henry) H. and Lavina Hyde. He came to Sterling at the age of 20 years and made his home here until eight years ago when he moved to Chadwick. His wife, Margaret, passed away a number of years ago; also a son, Oral. Surviving Mr. Hyde are three brothers: Compton Hyde of Earlville, Philo Hyde of DeKalb and William Hyde of Idaho and one sister, Mrs. Inez (Inza) Davison of Lombard. Mr. Hyde was employed at the Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. prior to moving to Chadwick.
