REV. TERRY J. HALLOCK
, 57, of 121 S. Sparta St., Wataga, IL died at 9:31 AM Monday, December 22, 2003 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born on July 10, 1946 in Sterling, IL. He was raised by adopted parents Rev. John and Jennie Stauffer Hallock. They preceded him in death. He married Norma Talley on November 29, 1974 in Indianapolis, IN. She survives.
Also surviving is his biological father; Charles (and Joyce) Ebersole of Sterling, IL, two daughters; Tara M. Hallock of Cedar Rapids, IA and Gretchen A. Hallock of Wataga, IL and one brother; Robert W. Hallock of Park Ridge, IL.
He was a store manager of a Goodyear Tire and Rubber company in Chicago, IL. He later became a minister serving the United Church of Christ Church and has been with the Wataga (IL) Congregational Church for 30 years. He graduated from high school in Lexington, IL and Culver-Stockton College in 1968. He earned his Masters of Arts at the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN and his Masters of Divinity in 1977.
He was a member of the Inter Denominational Ministers Alliance and the ROWVA Ministers Alliance. He was a member of the Wataga Congregational Church.
Funeral services commenced at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2003 at the Wataga Congregational Church with Rev. Jeff Barclay officiating. Burial in the Science Ridge Menonite Cemetery in Sterling IL.
WILLIAM R. HAMPTON
, 80, of Rock Falls, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Lee County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon. Arrangements are being completed by McDonald Funeral Homes.
NILS HAMSON
, 92, died Sunday at the Blue Island Nursing Home. The body was removed to the Gardner Mortuary where friends may call.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Gardner Chapel by Rev. C. A. Bengtson, pastor of the Lutheran Church of Prophetstown. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Hamson was born April 25, 1861, in Sweden to Mr. and Mrs. Hans Munson. He came to the United States as a young man and married Betty Olson of Prophetstown in 1902. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Prophetstown.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter Bridgestock of Farmington and Mrs. Elmer Anderson of Oak Lawn; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother.
RICHARD MEINS HARDEN
, age 27, of 712 First Avenue, Sterling, was fatally injured in a one car accident early Sunday morning (9 Jun 1977) . Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Loyal M. Wilkenson, pastor of the Rolb Congregational Church at Earlville officiating. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Whiteside County Coroner James Grennan will conduct an inquest into his death.
Richard Harden was born Jan. 24, 1950 in Sterling, the son of Herbert M. and Grace E. Meins Harden. He attended and graduated from Sterling Township High School and attended Sauk Valley Jr. College. He served in the U.S. Army and was in the National Guard at the time of his death. He was employed by Russel Burdsall and Ward, Inc., for the past six years as an inspector.
Survivors include his daughter, Regina of Rock Falls; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert M. Harden of Sterling; three sisters, Mrs. Gene (Carole) Wright of Savanna, Mrs. Roger (Anne) Polzin of Sterling and Mrs. Dennis (Janice) Weber of Dixon
EMMA JANE (BENNETT) HAWK
, 86, of the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA, formerly of Albany, IL, died Monday, August 13, 2007 at the Alverno.
Emma Jane was born April 28, 1921, in Clinton, IA to Andrew E. and Edna V. (Mason) Bennett. She was educated in the Fulton, IL grade school and graduated from Our Lady of the Angels High School in Clinton, IA. She married Verle L. Hawk on June 28, 1941 in Fulton. He died July 22, 2003. Emma Jane, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Mississippi Bar in Fulton, IL. She also worked at G.E. Company in Morrison, IL for a number of years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane (Mrs. Jerry) Van Zuiden of Fulton; two grandsons, William (Elizabeth) Van Zuiden and Jeremy Van Zuiden, both of Fulton; seven great grandchildren; Jeff, Jennifer, Allison, Emma and Cassandra Van Zuiden; Lydia and Mara Bilyeu.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verle; one sister, Gladys Decker; two brothers, Raymond and Eugene Bennett.
VERLE L. HAWK
, 83, of Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Albany and Fulton, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at the nursing home. He owned and operated the former Mississippi Bar, Fulton. He also was employed in construction and by Decker's Garage, Fulton, as a mechanic.
Mr. Hawk was born April 17, 1920, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of George and Irene (Pringle) Hawk. He attended Fulton and Morrison schools. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Emma Jane Bennett on June 28, 1941, in Fulton. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and American Legion Post 402, where he served as a past commander, both in Fulton,
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane (Jerry) Van Zuiden of Fulton; a brother, George (Judy) Hawk of Erie; two grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Hawk and Kenneth in infancy. The funeral is at 10:30 am. Thursday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial with graveside military honors is at Calvary Hill Cemetery, Fulton. Visitation is from 8:30-10:30 at the funeral home.
OTTO M. HEIDA
, of 504 21st St., died Jan. 5, 1993, at Coventry Village. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sterling. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home, Sterlilng. Mr. Heida was born Jan. 6, 1913 in Sterling, the son of Otto M. and Margaret (Mahler) Heida, Sr. He married Lucille Stewart April 30, 1938, in Aurora. She died June 15, 1992. Mr. Heida was employed as a tool and dye maker, working at Baugers in Sterling and General Electric in Morrison. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sterling, and a past master of the Masonic Lodge in Sterling. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Petrusky of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Ben (Debra) Jones of Iowa Falls, Iowa; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Norris of Mesa, Ariz., and Julia Heida of Philadelphia Pa.
BEULAH H. (REECHER) HEIDE
, 84, of 207 North Main St., Coleta, died ( 8 Aug 1987) Saturday morning in her home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with Rev. Roger Cheek, pastor of the Coleta United Methodist Church and Rev. Ben White of Morrison, co-officiating. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Coleta United Meethodist Church. Mrs. Heide was born on Oct. 7, 1902, near Coleta, the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Peters Reecher. On Oct. 2, 1919 whe was united in marriage to Clarence J. Heide in Coleta. Mrs. Heide was a member of the Coleta United Methodist Church since 1917 and active in the missionary organizations of the church for 66 years. The couple wintered in Plametto, Fla., for the past 35 years. Survivors include her husband, Clarence; four daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Vonda) Shank of Coleta, Mrs. Robert (Verna) Reiff of Milledgeville, Mrs. Therma Smith of Freeport and Mrs. Richard (Emily) Allison of Ashland, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Isabel Cheeseman of Milledgeville; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Floyd Reecher; and one granddaughter, Linda Smith Bastian.
HERMAN HEIDE
, was born in Berlin, Germany, forty-three years ago last July. He came to America with his parents and sister and brother at the age of seven years. They settled on a farm in Genesee township, Whiteside county, where Mr. Heide lived at the time of his death. February 18, 1891, Mr. Heide was married to Miss Lena Winkey who with two daughters survives him. Mr. Heide was a well to do and prosperous farmer. He had been afflicted with strangulated hernia and on Friday underwent an operation in the hope of bettering his condition, but he passed away the day following. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the U. B. church in Coleta and the remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery near Coleta.
WILLIAM GEORGE HEIDE
, 87, born in Carroll County, Fair Haven Township on June 26,1874, died Wednesday evening Aug. 30, in Morrison Community HospitaL Mr. Heide farmed in Whiteside County, west of Co let a, for 31 years. He retired from farming in 1930 and later moved to Thomson. He served as supervisor of Genesee Township for 10 years and was a member of the Coleta EUB Church.
He is survived by his wife Amanda Howe Heide, and 12 children; Clarence, Coleta; Ralph and George, Milledgeville; Richard, Sterling; William G. Heide Jr., Rock Falls; Mrs. Charles (Ethel) Miller; Mrs. Clifton (Barbara) Cartwright, and Mrs. William (Leota) Janssen, Chadwick; Mrs. Frank (Helen) Johnson, Winnebago; Mrs. Martin (Ruth) Frankfother and Mrs. Paul (Sarah) Gettle of Coleta and Mrs. Charles (Lillian) Langley of Sterling; also by 39 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at the Frank Funeral Home in Chadwick on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday. Burial will take place in Oak Knoll Memorial Park Cemetery, Sterling. A memorial fund has been established by the family for the Coleta EUB Church.
Funeral services for William G. Heide of Riverview were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday from the Frank Funeral Home in Chadwick. Burial was in the Oak Knoll Memorial Park Cemetery, Sterling. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Richard Janssen, Lyle Cartwright, William Miller, Kenneth Heide, Verne Langley and Daniel Frankfother. Mrs. Wayne Shank and Mrs. Robert Reiff, granddaughters, sang "Where We Will Never Grow Old." Organist was Mrs. Herbert Studa. Flowers were cared for by the following grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. George Morgan; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gettle and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Zideus. In charge of the register was Mrs. William Farwell. Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Conlon of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Miller of Reinbeck, la. Others attended from Elgin, Rockford, Thomson, Sterling, Rock Falls, Morrison, Mount Carroll, Savanna, Lanark, Milledgeville, Coleta and Winnebago.
LORRAINE (JANSSEN) HELMS
, 83, died February 11, 2007 at Carolina's Medical Center, Charlotte, NC after becoming ill while visiting her daughter.
Lorraine was born August 7, 1923 in Battle Creek, IA, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Holtz) Janssen. She married Walter Helms on December 3, 1941 in Sterling. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1987. She was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sterling and an active member of the Ladies of the Elks, Moose, and Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia (Ron) Engvoldsen of Augusta, GA, Kathy (Bob) Marsh of Sterling, and Lori (Paul) Chapman of Ft. Mill, SC; one sister, Dorothy Van Drew of Clinton, IA; eight grandchildren, Guy Terry, Tara Gosneigh, Trent Marsh, Erik Marsh, Grant Chapman, Davis Chapman, Michael Chapman, and Christopher Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Conner, Caroline, Samuel, Kortny, Evan, Anna, and Madeline who always put a special twinkle in her eye, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jeanine Thomas; two sisters, Mildred Scherner and Gladys Ericksen; and one brother, Louis Janssen.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 19, 2007 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Judi Huseth officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1-3 PM at Schilling Funeral Home.
WILLIAM EDWARD HIDDLESON
- Funeral services for William Edward Hiddleson of Morrison who lost his life in an automobile accident Sunday evening (30 December 1951) on the Garden Plain road west of Morrison will be held Thursday afternoon. The short prayer service will be in the Reynolds Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. and the funeral in the First Methodist Church at 2 p.m., The Rev. Harold E. Olson, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Hiddleson was born March 20, 1926 at Lyndon, the son of Earl and Ethel Hunt Hiddleson, and was reared and educated in the Morrison schools. He served with the Navy during World War II. He was married Aug. 22, 1947 at Morrison to LaVonne Dennis of Milledgeville. He assisted in maintenance of township roads, assisting his father who is township road commissioner. He attended the Methodist Church and had a host of friends in this area.
Surviving him are his wife, his parents; two sisters, Mrs. R. G. (Dorothy) Siefken of Morrison and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Wagenecht of Prophetstown; two brothers, Earl Jr. of Moline and George, serving with the Air Force in Tokyo, Japan who is being flown home for the services; and his grandmother, Mrs. Grace Hunt of Davenport, Ia. He was preceded in death by an infant child.
MARGARET JANE (LEWIS) HINDS
- was born Dec. 17, 1851 at Antwerp, Jefferson Co., N.Y., oldest daughter of Alanson Roselle Lewis and Margaret Maria Jones Lewis. She taught school in N.Y. state in 1873, thereby earning money to come west. She arrived in Thomson February 4, 1874 at the age of 23. She attended school three terms.
Later she worked in the post office four years. In the fall of 1876 she went east and returned in Feburary 1877. She continued to work in the post office until 1879. She went to Morrison in 1881. In August 1882 she went to Boston with Mrs. Crosby to spend three months.
July 3, 1883 she went to Mitchell, S. Dak., where she bought a relinquishment on 160 acres of land. There she had built a fence, well and sod shanty. She carried the mail twice a week a distance of 36 miles by means of horses or a mule. There she stayed seven years and proved up on her claim. Later she sold her land for $55 per acre. She filed on land in Aberdeen, MacPherson Co., S. Dak. Then she sold it.
She returned to Morrison in 1889. Then she went farming on the Royal S. Lewis estate in 1890. She was married to Edward A. Hinds in 1892. They remained there until 1906. Then they moved to the Isaac A. Lewis farm in March 1906. In 1923 they moved to Thomson. She lived there until her death, November 14, 1932.
Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Carroll Langston, pastor of the local Christian church officiating. Interment was in Grove Hill cemetery, Morrison, Ill.
LAURA (GANTZERT) HIRLEMAN
, 88, formerly of Sterling, died Wednesday in Stockton, (San Joaquin) Calif. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home, Rev. E. A. Henrichs Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1888 in Illinois the daughter of George and Johnann Bressner Gantzert. She married Harry Hirleman in 1914 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1954.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mearie Boyce and one son, Robert both of Escalon, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Margie Mathiot of Freeport, one grandson and one sister, Mrs. Rose Beck of Ladysmith, Wisc. She was preceded in death by her husband and a stepson.
GENEVA HIRTH
, 88, 425 Garden Circle, Rock Falls, died early Sunday morning 14 Jan. 1973) in Community General Hospital, Sterling. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David L. Beebe, pastor of the First Christian Church of Rock Falls officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Rock Falls. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral Home.
Miss Hirth was born April 9, 1884 in Rock Falls, the daughter of George J and Minnie Krayzer Hirth. She was librarian of the Coloma Township Library for over 23 years, was a member of the First Christian Church of Rock Falls and a former member of the Rock Falls Women's Club in which she had taken an active part.
She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Arthur (Mary Jane) D'Arcy and Miss Genevieve Hirth, both of Rock Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters in infancy.
EMMA (WALD) HOCKMAN
- Funeral services for Mrs. Roy Hockman of Morrison, who died Tuesday afternoon at her home after an illness of three years were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Reynolds Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. F. Leon Furrh officiated and burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Roy James, DeWitt Mulnix, Paul Schroeder, John Benson, Henry DeGroot and Reuben Schroeder. Friends in charge of the beautiful floral tributes were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lawrenz, Mrs. Ruth Benson and Mrs. DeWitt Mulnix. Glenn Craddock sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. William Brady on the organ.
LARRY L. HOCKMAN
- 17, Tampico, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two car collision on the Tampico Blacktop, one and a half miles east of Tampico at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Hockman was the driver of one of two autos involved in a head-on collision at the east end of a narrow bridge over the Illinois-Mississippi Canal. Driver of the other auto was Donald L. Baker, 18, Walnut. He is listed in satisfactory condition at Community General Hospital today. A passenger in the car, James Baker, 25, was treated and released at the hospital.
A passenger in Hockman's car, 13 year old Ronald Bruder, also of Tampico, is being held in Community General Hospital. Hospital officials said he is in satisfactory condition.
Troopers investigating the crash, said Baker was westbound and Hockman eastbound at the time of the crash. The two cars hit headon near the east end of the bridge. Following the crash, Baker's auto nosed to the right, facing northeast against the side of the bridge. The Hockman car bounced completely over Baker's car and landed on its top, facing west on the south side of the road. The investigation into the crash is incomplete.
Larry Hockman was born Aug. 20, 1946, the son of Roy and Juanita Hockman in Princeton. He attended the Tampico schools and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are his parents and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Mthodist Church with the Rev. Roger Baumeister officiating. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schmitt Chapel after 2 p.m. on Thursday.
WILLIAM A. HORRALL
- 74, of 80 Smitt Road, Prophetstown, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999 at his home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were completed by Gardner-Gibson and Son Funeral Home, Prophetstown. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Horrall was born June 10, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Dr. Onis and Ruby (Arnett) Horrall. He married Patricia Orendorff on Sept. 1, 1978 in Rock Island. She survives. He graduated from University of Illinois School of Pharmacy and worked for Walgreens in Chicago until 1962 when he moved to Prophetstown and engaged in farming.
Survivors include a daughter Jill Weaver of Avondale, Ariz.; two step-daughters, Jodi McCaw of New Windsor and Judy Spahn of Davenport, Iowa; five step grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
LOUIS HOWELL, Jr.
- Funeral services for Louis Howell, Jr. of Norristown, Pa., were held
Moday afternoon in the Reynolds funeral home. The Rev. Anthony Campolo,
who came with Mrs. Howell from Pennsylvania, officiated and burial
was in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Pallbearers were Robert Ottens,
John Butkus, Marv Smith, Joe Kilmson, Dave Lennon, Garth Carpenter. Friends in charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. Burton Shambaugh adn Mrs. John Butkus. Mrs. Abe Renkes was the organist for the service.
VERNON HOWELL
, of Altadena, Calif., formerly of Erie, died Oct. 17, 1954 and was buried at Mountain View Cemetery at Altadena, Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1954 according to word received by his cousin, Kenneth Bennett, of near Spring Hill. Mr. Howell was son of E. J. and Mary Guthrie Howell. He attended Erie Schools and graduated from Erie High School. He moved to California about 30 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Alice, and one son, William, who is in the service stationed near his home in California. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. E. J. Howell of Altadena, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Editha Nowells, Capitola, Calif., and Miss Mary Howell, who resides with her mother. He was preceded in death by his father and a son. His mother, Mrs. E. J. Howell, of 52 W. Fotthill Blvd,. Altadena, Calif., would be glad to hear from her Erie friends.
THEODORA FAYE (FRERICHS) HUBER
, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at her Meridian Retirement Community Home in Englewood, Colo. She was 94. Mrs. Huber was born Feb. 24, 1913 in Sterling, Neb., to Richard and Winifred Frerichs. After graduating from Sterling (Neb.) High School and attending Brownell Hall, Omaha, Neb., she completed her formal education at Doane College, Crete, Neb., earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. There she met the love of her life, George Huber of Sterling, Ill., who also was attending Doane. They were married in 1936. During that time, she was employed by Beatrice Foods, Lincoln, Neb.
Theodora and George then lived in Davenport and Friend, Neb., before relocating to Sterling, Ill., in 1941. It was during that time that their two sons, Kenneth and James were born in 1946 and 1948. In 1951, the family moved to Hastings, Neb., where they lived until 1958. It was there Mrs. Huber entered the teaching profession serving as a third grade teacher at Alcott Elementary School. In 1958, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., where Mrs. Huber continued her teaching career in the elementary schools of Colorado District 14, Manitou Springs, Colo. She retired from that post in 1975.
During retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Huber pursued their love of travel as well as participating in community activities and local politics. She was a staunch supporter of her husband George's professional endeavors as a safety engineer and his activities as Cactus Jack, the Original Safety Cowboy. The couple was well-inown in Colorado Springs. In 2003, the couple moved to Englewood Meridian, a retirement community where they lived until George's death in October, and Theodora's death this month.
Mrs. Huber is survived by two sons, Kenneth B., of New York City, and James A. and his wife, Sharon O'Conor, of Englewood, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Caroline O'Connor and Kevin O'Connor.
MICHAEL R. HUEBSCH
, 69, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, following an extended illness. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Rock Falls, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at
Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. with a 4 p.m. Rosary, Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Andrew Church and for Masses.
Mr. Huebsch was born June 6, 1930 in Perham, Minn., the son of Michael W. and Florence (Weis) Huebsch. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Loreta Rockwell on Aug. 21, 1953, in Sterling. She survives. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling for 37 1/2 years, retiring as an electrician in 1992.
He served as past president of Steel Workers Local 63. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church where he was active in the Bible study and prayer group. He also worked as a volunteer at P.A.D.S. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Amy) Huebsch of West Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Pat (Nyle) Anderson of Sterling and Chris (Dale) Shuey of Fisher, Ind.; two brothers, Jim (Margaret) Huebsch of Perham, Minn., and Don (Beata) Huebsch of Mount Angel, Ore.; two sisters, LaVerne (Bert) Pound of Seattle, Wash., and Sister Rosemary Huebsch O.S.B. of St. Cloud, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Father Vincent Huebsch, Wilford Huebsch and Jo Huebsch, and a sister, Delores.
JAMES HUGUNIN
, passed away at his home in Upper Albany , yesterday afternoon at 1 o’clock p.m., after an illness of about three weeks. He was born Dec. 24, 1839, in butler county, Ohio , and came with his parents, to Albany when he was six years old. At fifteen he engaged in the river business, and followed that occupation for many years. He was a thirty-second degree Mason, belonging to the consistory at Lyons , Ia. , and for several years was master of the Albany lodge, No. 566, A.F. & A.M. He leaves a wife, and two daughters and one son to mourn his loss.

- Funeral service of Samuel E. Hugunin, 61, who died at his home in Albany Sunday after a brief illness with bronchial pneumonia, were held at the family residence at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery, Albany.
SHIRLIE ANN (SCHULTZ) HUNGER
, 37, died Tuesday morning in the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa after being ill for two years.
Mrs. Shirlie Hunter was born Aug. 2, 1927, the daughter of William and the late Esther Spotts Schultz in Tampico. She was reared and educated in the Tampico area and April 23, 1949 she married Willard Hunter, Dixon. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Linda) Chriest, Tampico; one son, Danny at home; father, William Schultz, Rock Falls; one sister, Mrs. Betty Wetzell, Tampico; five brothers, Dean Schultz, Donald Schultz, Roger Schultz, Rock Falls; Raymond Schultz, South Dakota and Gary Schultz, Belvidere; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and one son in infancy. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Baumeister officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Schmitt Funeral Chapel after 7 p.m. Wednesday.
