ADA (EIZENGA) HOUSENGA , 88, of 207 East Park Street, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 25, at 10:30 o'clock at Colonial Acres Home, Sterling. She had been in failing health the past several years. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Ebenezer Reformed church, preceded by the family prayer service at 1:45 o'clock. Interment will be in Grove Hill cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the Tomlinson Funeral Home this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock. Ada Eizenga was born August 13, 1884 in Fulton, the daughter of Klaus and Agnes Flikkema Eizenga. She was reared and educated in Garden Plain township and was married there on Jan. 14, 1909 to Harry Housinga. Most of their married life has been spent as residents of Morrison. She was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed church and it's Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Vos and Mrs. Henry (Agnes) Eissens; one son, Kenneth Housinga; one sister, Mrs. Menno Norman, all of Morrison; nine grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Henry and Albert Eizenga.

ALECK HOUSENGA , 74, of Fulton, passed away Monday morning (1 Jan. 1968) at the Morrison Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. preceded by prayer services for the family at 1:15, the Rev. Ralph Van Rheenen will officiate, with burial in Fulton Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening (tonight) at the Bosma Funeral Home. Aleck Houzenga was born Sept. 22, 1893 in Rural Fulton, the son of John and Dora Temple Houzenga. He was educated in the rural schools and farmed in Ustick Township until retiring last year. He married Lena (Rena) Venhuizen Oct. 6, 1915 in Morrison and she passed away June 20, 1966. He is survived by two sons, Roy and Howard of Morrison, eight daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Dorothy) Foster of Ontario, Calif.; Mrs. Cornelius (Inez) Wilkins of Morrison; Mrs. Kenneth (Della) Housenga of Morrison; Mrs. Henry (Pauline) Korkill of Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. G. E. (Mildred) Drummond of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Ben (Leona) Wisehart of Yorktown, Va.; Mrs. Arthur (Lois) Foster of Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Edward (Irene) Chareski of Fulton, 25 Grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two brothers, Garret and Dave of Fulton; four sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Bess) Huizenga of Morrison; Mrs. Jacob (Alice) Huizenga of Albany; Mrs. John (Helen) Medendors of Fulton, Mrs. John (Jennie) VanKampen of Chadwick. ALVIN E. HOUSENGA , 83, of 510 12th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Alvin was born March 21, 1924 in Fulton, IL, to Garrett and Tena (Buikema) Houzenga. He attended rural Whiteside County grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1942. He attended Scovill Business College in Clinton, IA and Sterling, IL. He graduated from Chicago College of Optometry in Chicago, IL in 1950, where he was a member of the Phi Theta Upsilon college fraternity. Alvin was a veteran of WWII, serving, from 1944 to 1946, in the U.S. Army in the 125th Evacuation Hospital, where he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Ribbon. He worked as an optometrist in Morrison, IL; Chicago, IL; San Francisco, CA; Galesburg, IL; and Moline, IL. Alvin was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton and Trinity Men's League. He was a member of the Fulton American Legion Post #402 and also a Gideon and member of the Carroll-Whiteside Camp. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Leota M. Laughlin of Aurora, CO; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Lou Houzenga of Thomson, IL; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leland Houzenga and one niece, Peggy Jean Houzenga. BERT HOUZENGA , 82, of Fulton, died (19 Aug 1987) Wednesday in Wynderest Nursing Home, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. James Sprinkle, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, Fulton, officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his memory. Mr. Houzenga was born on Oct. 20, 1904 in the Netherlands, the son of Louis and Anna (Dyke) Houzenga. He was united in marriage to Anna Buikema on July 6, 1927 in Fulton and she preceded him in death on July 18, 1958. He then married Virginia Coyne Little on Aug. 26, 1961 in Fulton and she survives. He was educated in Whiteside County schools and farmed in the rural Morrison area until 1961 when he moved to Fulton. He was employed by Agrico for 10 years as a watchman and attended the Assembly of God Church. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Delores) Stuart of Morrison, Mrs. Fay (Darlene) Ashby and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Williams, both of Thomson, Mrs. George (Bernice) Kyarsgaard of Camanche, Iowa, and Ardella Houzenga of Savanna; three sons, Clifford and Bernard, both of Morrison, and Laverne of Clinton, Iowa; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Carl (Myrna) Rogers of Rock Falls, Mrs. Nancy Haan of Rockford, Mrs. James (Patricia) Gearing of Rock Grove, and Mrs. Terry (Peggy) Chase of Colona; 32 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Effie Faber of Fulton; and two brothers, Andrew and John Houzenga, both of Fulton. DONALD HUIZENGA , 85, of Fulton, died Monday at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, 1500 10th Ave., with the Rev. Phillip Sneller, pastor of the First Reformed Church in Fulton, officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Huizenga, Anthony Huizenga, Chad Huizenga, Donald J. Huizenga, Jared Huizenga, Jesse Huizenga, Christine McCann, Steven Sikkema and Timothy Sikkema. He was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Newton Township, Ill., to Jacob and Alice Housenga Huizenga. He married Loretta Noordt on May 6, 1941, in Fulton. She died in 2000. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. He was employed with John Deere in East Moline, Ill. He then farmed in Whiteside County. He later owned and operated the Huizenga Welding and Repair Shop in Fulton. He served as road commissioner with Garden Plain Township for many years. He was a member of the First Reformed Church where he served as a deacon. He also was a member of the church's adult Sunday school and the Men's Brotherhood. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Viola (Leonard) Sikkema of Fulton; three sons, Larry (Sheryl) Huizenga of Fulton, Richard (Christine) Huizenga of Fulton and Douglas (Angela) Huizenga of Alpena, Mich.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marion (Leonard) Reynolds of Cordova, Ill.; and five brothers, Harold Huizenga of East Moline, Clifford (Geraldine) Huizenga of Morrison, Ill., Kenneth (Esther) Huizenga of Morrison, Rolland (Janet) Huizenga of Erie, Ill., and Arnold (Marilyn) Huizenga of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister and one brother.

DORA (TEMPLE) HOUZENGA , Funeral services for Mrs. John Houzenga were held at 1:30 Friday afternoon at the Sikkema funeral home, and at two p.m. at the Trinity Reformed church with the Rev. Delbert Vander Haar officiating. Burial was in Fulton cemetery. At the church services vocal selections were offered by E. J. Housenga, accompanied by Mrs. George Renkes. Flowers were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vogel, and the pallbearers were grandsons of Mrs. Houzenga.

ELSIE (EISSENS) HOUZENGA , 87, of Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the center. Mrs. Houzenga was born April 1, 1917, in Thomson, the daughter of Jacob and Alice (Wiersema) Eissens. She married Henry J. Houzenga on Dec. 9,1937, in Fulton. He died Jan. 5, 1988. Survivors include a daughter. Joyce (David) Sweenie O. ( Fulton; a son, Gene R. (Kris) Houzenga of Morrison; a sister, Ruth (Marvin) . Hamstra of Morrison; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchil­dren. The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial is at Fulton Township Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

GARRETT HOUSENGA , 85, of Albany, IL, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at his home. Garrett was born September 1, 1922, in Fulton, IL, to John M. and Annie (Loots) Housenga. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and attended Fulton High School. He married Bessie A. Reedy on September 26, 1945 in Albany. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Garrett was employed by Fulton Corp. in Fulton for 40 years. He was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and a volunteer fireman for the Albany Fire Protection District. He had also served on the board of the Albany Grade School. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Survivors include his wife, Bessie; one daughter, Sandra (Mrs. Randy) Moberg of Albany; one son, Gary (Sandra) Housenga of Albany; eight grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Swift, Brian (Anneta) Ammon, Brenda (Troy) Lange, Steven Langy, Traci Kaas, Paul (Stephanie) Housenga, Richard (Wendy) Housenga and Deanna (Lalo) Solis; thirteen great grandchildren, Amanda ( Bob) Brechon, Trevor (Cortney Chase) Swift, Kristen Swift, Zachery Ammon, Niki Lange & fiancé Zach Stoddard, Sarah Langy, Kira Housenga, Matthew and Joshua Housenga, Cody and Adriana Housenga, Conrado and Alex Solis; two great great grandchildren, Logan Swift and Trey Stoddard; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Clark of Aurora, IL. HARLAN WAYNE HUIZENGA , 66, of Erie, died Wednesday at Mercy North Hospital, Clinton. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Port Byron, Ill. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Gibson Funeral Home in Erie. He was born July 21, 1937, in Albany, Ill., to Justus and Winnie Heun Huizenga. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He served in Japan. He was employed with Sears, Kmart and the former Renier's Music, all in Clinton, and with Whiteside FS. He had been a musician with the Forest Inn in Morrison, Ill., Jule's Danish Farm in Rock Falls, Ill., the Carousel Restaurant in Clinton and the Clinton Country Club. He was the organist with Gibson Funeral Homes in Port Byron and Erie for 13 years. Survivors include two brothers, Howard (Gertrude) Huizenga of Fulton, Ill., and Paul (Ruth) Huizenga of Erie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother-in-law, one niece and one great-niece. Memorials may be made to the Erie Ambulance Service.

JACOB M. HUIZENGA , 93, of 208 W. Winfield, Morrison died (8 September 1985) Sunday at Morrison Community Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Morrison Chapel of the Bosma Funeral home with Rev. Wayne Lemmen, pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Mr. Huizenga was born Oct. 25, 1891 in Enrom, Groninge, Netherlands, the son of Menno and Katherine VanderSchaaf Huizenga. On July 28, 1914 he married Bessie Houzenga in Fulton. She preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1968. Mr. Huizenga was educated in rural Whiteside County Schools and employed at Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a section hand in maintenance for many years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Way Union, a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church of Morrison and resided in Morrison since 1949 when he moved there from Round Grove. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Tena) Vandyke, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Bush, and Mrs. Gale (Anna) Ellis all of Morrison; two sons, John J. and Marvin both of Morrison; 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; three brothers, John, Fred and Peter, all of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his wife, two great grandchildren, five sisters and three brothers. A memorial has been established to the Ebenezer Reformed Church Radio Broadcast Ministry.

JACOB A. HOUSENGA , 76, 311 Third Ave. West, died Wednesday at St Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lyndon United Methodist Church with Steve Hartman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Gardner Funeral Home in Prophetstown with a Masonic service at 8 a.m. Mr. Housenga was born Jan. 27, 1913 in Erie, the son of Jane and Bertha Wierenga Housenga. He married Fern Wagner on Dec. 24, 1935 in Morrison. Mr. Housenga was a 1931 Erie High School graduate and lived in Prophetstown until moving to Lyndon in 1946. He was a millwright at Lawrence Brothers in Sterling for 33 years, retiring in 1980, and had formerly been the secretary for Lyndon school board for 18 years. Mr. Housenga was a former member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church, where he was the Sunday School superintendent and member of the Choir. At the time of his death he was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church. He was also a member and past master of Lodge #293 A.F.M. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Rod of River Forest and Brad of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ray of Erie.

JOHN J. HOUZENGA , 81, of Fulton, grandfather of Mrs. Kenneth Housinga of Morrison, passed away Sunday morning (19 Mar 1944) after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sikkema funeral home with the Rev. H. Moliema officiating. Burial was made in the Fulton Cemetery. Mr. Housenga was born in The Netherlands on Dec. 23, 1862, the son of George and Alice Houzenga. He came to this country in 1891 and farmed in the Fulton vicinity until he retired 23 years ago. He was married to Dora Temple in 1887. Surviving besides the widow are four daughters: Mrs. Jacob Huizenga of Round Grove, Mrs. John Medendorph of Fulton, Mrs. Jake Housenga of Cordova, and Mrs. John VanKampen of Ustick; six sons: Henry, Garrett and Dave of Fulton, George of Thomson, Alex of Ustick and John of Owantonna, Minn. and 50 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Jacob, and two brothers, Jacob and Peter, and one sister.

Mr. Houzenga was born Jan. 3, 1907, in Groningen, Netherlands, the son of Louis and Anna (Dyke) Houzenga. He was educated in Chicago and Albany schools. He married Katie Pessman Feb. 21, 1930 in Fulton. He moved to the United States when he was four years old. He was a farmer in the rural Fulton/Garden Plain area until retiring in 1971. He moved to Fulton in 1982. He was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Fulton and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He served on the Mt. Hope and Garden Plain school boards. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Neil Houzenga of Clinton, Iowa, and Harland Houzenga of Fulton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Effie Faber and Evadena in infancy; and three brothers, Bert, Andrew and Louis.

KENNETH HOUSINGA , 84, died Friday (May 7, 2004) in Bradenton. The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held in Morrison, Ill., at a later date. The Good Earth Crematory in Bradenton was in charge of arrangements. He was born in Morrison to Harry and Ada Eizenga Housinga on March 31, 1920. He married Della "Dolly" Houzenga on June 27, 1941. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He and his partner, Fred Beverth, operated the Sinclair Station for many years. He also worked with ADM in Clinton before retiring in 1983. He moved to Florida in 2003. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Dianne (Ken) Quick of Bradenton; a son, Keith Quick of Morrison; four grandchildren; and one sister, Sylvia Voss of Morrison.

LELAND J. HOUZENGA , 58, Route 1, Thomson, died (22 April 1989) Saturday at University Hospital at Iowa City, Iowa. after a tractor accident. Services will be a 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fulton Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral home. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery. Mr. Houzenga was born August 27, 1930 in Fulton, the son of Garrett J and Ten Buikema Houzenga. He married Mary Lou LaShelle April 11, 1952 in Fulton. She survives. He attended Fulton Grade School and Thomson High School. He lived in rural Fulton until 1989 when he moved to Thomson. He had farmed for 30 years and was employed as a carpenter. He also was assistant superintendent at the Thomson Water and Sewer Department. Other survivors, his mother, two daughters, Julie Houzenga of Thomson, and Connie, Clinton, Ia.; five sons; Russell A., Mt. Carroll, Bruce E., Morrison, Art W and David S., Fulton, Douglas P, Thomson; nine grandchildren, a twin sister, Leota Loughlin, Aurora, one brother, Alvin, Galesburg. PHERNE (RUS) HUISINGH , 88, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Pherne was born August 7, 1919 in Fulton, IL, to Herman and Ellen (Bos) Rus. She was a 1938 graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL and a 1940 graduate of Mount St. Clare College in Clinton, IA. Pherne married Harvey J. Huisingh on August 21, 1942 in Morrison. He died January 7, 2003. She was employed as a teacher in the rural Whiteside County Schools and at Unity Christian School in Fulton. She was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church where she was a member of the church's Ladies Aid Society and a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Whiteside County Retired Teachers Association and Whiteside County Parent Teachers Association. Survivors include three sons, Kent (Jane) Huisingh, Dean (Rosemary) Huisingh, and Les (Pam) Huisingh all of Fulton; five grandchildren, Brendon (Lonna) Huisingh, Aaron (Michelle) Huisingh, Beth (Shannon) Hoover, Megan (Marc) Huisingh-Scheetz, and Carrie Huisingh; two step grandchildren, Barbara (Nathan) Wertz and Aaron (Christy) Hackett; five great grandchildren, Tristan and Bryan Huisingh; Alekza, Eli, and Sydney Hoover; eight step great grandchildren, Cory Ireland, Caleb and Samantha Morse, Caitlin and Cameron Coe, Miranda Wertz, Annaka and Wesley Hackett; and one sister, Jeane (George) Whiting of Hayfield, MN. PHYLLIS R. (TEMPLE) HUIZENGA , 80, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Phyllis was born June 7, 1926 in Morrison, IL, to Peter L. and Alice (Logemeyer) Temple. She was educated in Morrison grade and high schools. She married Marvin Huizenga on May 10, 1944 in Morrison. He died July 27, 1994. Phyllis was employed at the Morrison Community High School Cafeteria. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and a member of the church's Philethea Circle. Survivors include two daughters, Marcia (Mrs. Michael) Blean of Morrison and Nancy (Mrs. Willard) Bielema of Rockton, IL; two sons, Loren Huizenga of Minooka, IL and Allan (June) Huizenga of Stoughton, WI; eight grandchildren, Shad (Valerie) White, Bo (Tami) White, Jill (Brian) Folk, Michelle (John) Joseph, Molly (Nick) Kemmer, Matt Blean, Clint Huizenga and Jeff Huizenga; nine great grandchildren, Harrison White, Alister and Eliana White, Aaron and Evan Folk, Tyler and Jessica Joseph, Halley and Sam Kemmer; one sister, Mrs. Jean Valk of Morrison, IL and one brother, Warren (Loretta) Temple of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marvin.

R. FERN (WAGNER) HOUSENGA , 75, of 404 Parker Ave., Robinson, formerly of Lyndon, died Aug. 25, 1994, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Robinson, with the Rev. Jerry McDaniel officiating. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Lyndon. burial will be at Lyndon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown. Mrs. Housenga was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Prophetstown, the daughter of Elson F. and Addie (Dorathy) Wagner. She was educated in Prophetstown schools. She married Jacob a. Housenga Dec. 24, 1935, in Morrison. the couple lived in Prophetstown until 1946 when they moved to Lyndon. He died in 1989. In 1990 Fern moved to Robinson. She had been employed in the food service at Lyndon Schools. she was a member of United Methodist Church, Lyndon, and a member of Ernest Coulter American Legion Post # 69 Auxiliary. Survivors include town sons, Rod Housenga of River Forest and Brad Housenga of Robinson; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Fey of Delta, Ohio; one brother, Robert Wagner of Amboy; two half-sisters, Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Meinsma of Rock Falls and Mary Wyatt of Springfield; one half brother, Donald Saathoff (should be Sathoff) of Sterling. She was preceded in death by one sister, one brother, two half-sisters and two half-brothers.

ROLLAND G. HUIZENGA , 73, of Erie, died Friday at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Erie Christian Church. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. He was born July 19, 1930, in Newton Township to Jacob and Alice Houzenga Huizenga. He married Janet Littrel, Oct. 14, 1950, in Kahoka, Mo. He had served in the U.S. Army. He had been employed at the John Deere Foundry retiring in 1987 after 39 years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rhonda Parker, Hartwick; two sons, Randy (Rose) Huizenga, Port Byron, Ill., and Roger (Joyce) Huizenga of Erie; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Reynolds of Cordova, Ill.; and four brothers, Harold, East Moline, Ill., Arnold of Fulton, Ill., Kenny and Clifford, both of Morrison, Ill. He was preceded in death by a son, his parents, a sister and two brothers.

RONALD HUIZENGA ,60, of 505 S. Grape, Morrison, IL, died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport, IA. Ron was born November 12, 1945, in Morrison, IL, to John J. and Sena (Vos) Huizenga. He married Maria L. Forster-Wintjen on April 10, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV. He had been employed by General Electric of Morrison, IL for 36 years. He belonged to the G.E. Athletic Association, enjoyed woodworking and golf. Survivors include his wife, Maria; one daughter, Laura Allen of Clinton Township, MI; one son, Rich Huizenga of Morrison, IL; one step daughter, Cindy Wintjen of Chadwick, IL; one step son, Sonny Wintjen of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Addison Huizenga, Austin & Shane Allen; three step grandchildren, Erin Shepard, Heather Fischbach and Chloe Stingley; his parents, John and Sena Huizenga of Morrison, IL; one sister, Beth (Jim) Bickerman of Princeton, IL; one brother, Bob (Kathy) Huizenga of Morrison, IL; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Vicki Huizenga of Mackinaw, IL. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Huizenga.

ROY E. HOUZENGA , 86, of Morrison and formerly of Fulton, Ill., died Friday Nov. 5, 2004, at Genesis West Medical Center, Davenport. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Dougherty, associate pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fulton Township Cemetery. He was born July 27, 1918, in Fulton to Alex J. and Rena Venhuizen Houzenga. He married Evelyn D. Green on Dec. 25, 1940, in Clinton. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area. He was employed with Drives, Inc., Fulton, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Mrs. Judy (Nick) Becker of Morrison and Mrs. Vicky (Bob) Workman of Morrison; a son, Don (Pat) Houzenga of Terre Haute, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Inez Wilkens of Morrison, Mrs. Lois (Art) Foster of Clinton, Pauline Corkill of Palmdale, Calif., Mrs. Millie (Glen) Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids, Leona Self of Yorktown, Va., and Mrs. Irene (Bob) Charneski of Fulton. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a sister and a brother. Memorials can be made to Emmanuel Reformed Church and the American Cancer Society.

TENA (BUIKEMA) HOUZENGA , 93, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, died Oct. 21, 1992, at the nursing home Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Ringenoldus, retired pastor of the Reformed Church in America, officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to Trinity Reformed Church and The Gideons. Mrs. Houzenga was born Nov. 29, 1898, in Garden Plain, the daughter of Jacob and Henrietta (Wierenga) Buikema. She was educated in Garden Plain School. She married Garrett Houzenga on March 3, 1920 in Fulton. He died Dec. 31, 1981. She farmed with her husband in the rural Fulton and Thomson areas until 1952 when they moved to Fulton. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and the church's Hannah Mission Circle. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Leota Laughlin, of Aurora, Colo.; one son, Dr. Alvin E. Housenga, Fulton; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nellie DeWeerdt of Prophetstown; one brother, Jay Buikema of Morrison. She was preceded in death by one son, Leland Houzenga; four sisters, Margaret Pyse, Ann Bielema, Henrietta Holesinger and Janet Schaver; four brothers, Roy Buikema, John Buikema, Louis Buikema and George Buikema and one granddaughter.
