JOHN ANDREW JEPSON
, 37, Genoa, formerly of Erie, died Monday at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at the Faith United Methodist Church, Genoa, with the Rev. Joseph Summers, officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. with the Erie Masonic Lodge 667 conducting Masonic Services at the Erie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Quiram Funeral home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, with Masonic Services at 8 p.m. The Schilling-Reedy Funeral Home, Erie, was in charge of local arrangements. A memorial has been established in his memory.
Born on Feb. 6, 1945 in Moline, the son of Andrew and Myrtle Bastable Jepson, he married Sandra Ann Smalley of Cordova on June 29, 1968 in Moline. He was employed as an assistant director of Research and Development of Duplex Products, Sycamore. A member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Genoa, he was also a member and past master of the Sycamore Masonic Lodge 134, of the Omicron Sigma Fraternity and a former member of the United States Naval Reserve He graduated from Erie High School in 1963 and from Augustna in Rock Island in 1968 with a BA degree majoring in Chemistry. An Eagle Scout, he continued scouting by serving as a Webelos Cub Leader in Sycamore. He was also a former Sunday School teacher at the Erie United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra; a son, Scott Andrew, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jepson, Erie; two sisters, Mrs. H. F. (Susan) May, LaGrange and Helen Jepson, Sycamore.
GLADYS (KENNEDY) JOHNS , was born Sept.25, 1900, at Kennedy Corners in Clyde Township, Whiteside Co., Illinois, the daughter of Harvey J. and Agnes (Jones) Kennedy. She attended grade school at the James rural school, Morrison High School and the University of Illinois, where she was a music major and a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She taught piano at her parents home in Morrison for two years. Gladys married Harry A. Johns, Dec.22,1924, in Morrison. She and her husband lived in Kankakee, Ill.for ywo years. They were transferred to Binghamptom N.Y., to Napierville, Ill., and to Cleveland, Ohio. When her husband retired from Kroehler Co. in 1959, they moved to Morrison. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the PEO Sisterhood and the Women's Club. Gladys died at the age of 94, May 5, 1995. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Survivors include her husband, two goddaughters and several cousins. CHARLES JUDD
- Funeral services for Charles Judd, 86, Clinton, Ia., who died Tuesday morning in Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, where he had been a patient for 17 days, were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Dalton Funeral Home. The Rev. C. E. Thompson, pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle, officiated, and burial was in the family plot in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. A military funeral was held.
Mr. Judd was born Aug. 17, 1869, in Morrison, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Judd. He was a member of the Spanish-American War and served two years as a Private in Co. I, Sixth Illinois Infantry, and was discharged Nov. 25, 1898.
MARY BERTHA (HACKBARTH) JUDD
, 62, RR1, Rock Falls, died Sunday evening at her home. Her body was donated to Medical Science. Mrs. Judd was born Aug. 15, 1911 in Jordan Township, the daughter of Joseph and Katie H Kline Hackbarth. She was united in marriage to Chester D. Judd on June 5, 1934 at Dixon, he preceded her in death June 13, 1970. Mrs. Judd was a supervisor for Self-Help Enterprises.
Survivors include one son, Alfred J. Waters, Rock Falls; one brother, Jacob Hackbarth, with whom she made her home; one half brother Charles Gasso, Sterling; and seven grandchildren.
WILLIAM H. JUDD JR.
- At the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Judd of Mt. Pleasant Township, on Thursday morning May 9, 1889 of consumption.
Mr. William H. Judd, Jr. was born in Louisville,Ky on Jan 8, 1865. Soon after his parents returned toMorrison,where "Willie", as he was familiarly called, lived and went to school. In 1877 his parents moved to their present home, where William had lived most of the time up to his death. The deceased was of a retiring disposition, yet full of sympathy for the suffering of others. Some time since he came to see his need of a Saviour and by a strong faith in Him who died to save, has been patiently waiting to be called home to rest and obtain a relief from his great suffering.
He leaves a father, mother, three brothers and two sisters to mourn, but who feel that their loss is his eternal gain.
PAUL C. JUIST
, 86, of Fulton, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, IA. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Fulton Presbyterian Church, Fulton, IL. The Rev. Dr. Stanley Bomgarden, pastor of Fulton Presbyterian Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.Memorials may be made to Smile Train or Fulton Presbyterian Church. He was born November 11, 1922, in Garden Plain Township, IL, to Clarence and Jennie (DeWeerdt) Juist. Paul was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and attended Fulton High School. He married Genevieve M. VanZuiden on December 19, 1951, in Fulton, IL; she survives. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was engaged in farming in the rural Fulton area. He was employed by Laborers Union Local 309 with extensive work associated with the Nuclear Power Generation Station at Cordova, IL. He was a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church, Fulton, IL, and the church’s Bible study group; American Legion Fulton Post 402; Fulton City Lodge 189 A.F and A.M. Paul greatly enjoyed the coffee fellowship with his retired friends. Survivors include his wife, Gen; one daughter, Jolene (Roy) Carpenter of Fulton, IL; one son, Warren (Cheryl) Juist of Fulton, IL; four grandchildren, Travis and Shelby Carpenter; Alex and Sarah Juist; and one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Bielema, Fulton, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gordon D. Juist; and two brothers, Gerald and Robert Juist.
