CHRISTIAN F. SEEFELD
- Rites for Christian F. Seefeld, 80, of Algona, were held at the McCullough's Monday morning with the Rev. Luther Loesch officiating. The family drove to Sterling, Ill., where the burial took place today. Mr. Seefeld, who had been paralyzed for the past 14 years, died at his home on North Harlan street Friday.
Mr. Seefeld farmed from 1902 until 1926 in the Wesley area and moved to Algona in that year. He was born Oct. 30, 1976, in Whiteside county near Sterling, the son of Frederick and Minnie Seefeld.
Survivors include his wife Hannah; two daughters, Amy, Mrs. Steven Kuhn of Kansas City, Mo., and Esther, Mrs. Elead Wegner, Algona, and two brothers, Henry of Halsey, Ore., and Frank of Beloit, Wis.

FREDERICK WILLIAM SEEFELD
- died December 3, 1918, after an illness of five months of dropsy and heart trouble. Frederick William Seefeld was born near Grenzian, Brandenburg, Germany, May 12, 1842. He came to this country with his parents in 1856, settling in Jordan Township on a farm. He was united in marriage November 5, 1865, to Miss Minnie M. Grange, with whom he lived faithfully for fifty-three years. To this union were born eight children, six boys and two girls. He resided at Jordan, doing farm work, until December 26, 1895, when he moved to Sterling where he had since resided at his home, 902 Locust Street. Those to mourn his death are his wife, Mrs. F. N. Seefeld, his children, Mrs. Alice Hammelman of Milledgeville, William Seefeld of Redland, N.M., Henry Seefeld of Albany, Ore., John, Christ and Frank of Algona, Ia., and one brother, Christ Seefeld, of Webster, S.D. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Seefeld home, and at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, of which Mr. Seefeld was a member, Rev. E. Beyer officiating.

GARRETT SIEFKEN
, 69, died at noon Saturday [11/06/1937] at his home on West Wall street in Morrison. He had been in ill health for some time but became worse Saturday. He is survived by his widow and three sons, John, Earl and Clarence of Morrison, and a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Huycke of Morrison. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Funeral services for Garrett Siefken, 69, who died Saturday [11/06/1937] noon, will be held Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the home of West Wall street, Morrison and at 2:30 at the Reynolds funeral home. The Rev. Albertus Perry will officiate and burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery. The deceased was born at Oldenberg, Germany, Nov. 20, 1868, and was brought to this country when he was four years of age. In 1892 he was wed to Miss Emma Moore, who survives him. He farmed for many years north of Morrison and moved here 15 years ago. ?Because of declining health he has been unable t o work for the past three years. Besides the widow, he is survived by four sons, Earl, John, Clarence, and Bert and two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Huycke and Mrs. Lloyd Hines, all of Morrison and vicinity. He is also survived by a half sister, Mrs. Anna Hanson of Morrison and 14 grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Marvin, Raymond, Russell, and Arnold Siefken, and Orin and Robert Moore. Mrs. A. G. RAYMOND A. SIEFKEN
, 64, 302 Oak St., Morrison, died (4 Apr 1985) Thursday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Morrison United Methodist Church, preceded by a 10:45 a.m. prayer service in the church chapel. The Rev. Lynn Longenbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, where military services will be held. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Renkes-Reynolds Funeral Home, Morrison. A memorial has been established. He was born Jan. 22, 1921 in Round Grove, the son of Earl M. and Frances Grace (Reap) Siefken. He was raised in Morrison. He married Miriam McCluskey, Nov. 22, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. He lived his entire life in Morrison where he had worked for 23 years with the city as superintendent of water and sewer departments and retired as public works director May 1, 1984. He was an army veteran of World War II, a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, and member and past commander of the Morrison American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Miriam, four sons, Roger, Torrance, Calif.; James, Libertyville; David, Gaithersburg, Md.; and Bob of Millbrae, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and two brothers, Marvin, Clinton, Iowa ,and Russell, Morrison. He was preceded in death by his parents.

ROBERT O. SIEFKEN
, 80, of Prophetstown, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. He was employed by Standard Oil, Prophetstown area, as a representative for a number of years and later by Whiteside County Highway Department in the motor fuel tax and planning and engineering departments, retiring in 1992. He also served as a councilman for the city of Prophetstown.
Robert was born Feb. 24, 1927, in rural Morrison, the son of Clarence and Gladys (Kahler) Siefken. He was a graduate of Morrison High School. Robert served in the Navy during World War II. He married Burdetta Paxton on March 17, 1978, in Prophetstown. He was a lifetime member of Prophetstown American Legion, the National Rifle Association, a 32nd Degree Mason in the Prophetstown Masonic Lodge and was a Prophetstown Fire District volunteer for many years. He enjoyed his friends, family, fishing, hunting, traveling and nature.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Emma Mae (Sandi) McComas of Los Osos, Calif.; a niece and nephew; and four grandnephews. A memorial celebration of life is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Prophetstown. Inurnment is at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowrs, a memorial has been established.

CAROL A. (BRILL) SONGER
, 63, of Rock Falls, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford.
Carol was born March 7, 1947, in Sterling, the daughter of Arthur and Carol(Dravenstot) Brill. She married Thomas Songer in 1977 in Cairo, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Kevin (Carla) Henson of Rock Falls; one brother, Larry (Donna) Brill of Rock Falls; three granddaughters, Angie Davis, Ashley (Joel) Ordean, and Kayla Henson; two great grandchildren, Carmindy Ordean and Jevin Ordean; three nephews, Larry Brill, Brian Brill, and Arthur Brill; and two nieces, Laura Brill and Debbie Brill.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Arthur Brill.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

MATHILDA S. SPEER
, 89, 1207 6th Ave., Sterling, died Wednesday (31 Dec 1980) in her home. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. The Rev. J. Randall Brown, pastor of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at
Oak Knoll, Sterling. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
Mrs. Speer was born Feb. 28, 1891 in Hooppole, the daughter of John and Frederika (Vetter) Kurliss. She was employed at National Manufacturing for 38 years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Golden Age Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Speer, Sterling; two sons, John Speer, Coleta; and Harold Speer, Sterling; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Elsasser, Mt. Morris; and Mrs. Zelma Baker, Rockford. She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

EOLA STEVENS
, 1203 6th Ave., Sterling, passed away at 1 a.m. (Tuesday 22 November 1966) at Colonial Acres Rest Home. She was born Oct. 8, 1882 in Sterling Township the daughter of Maulby C. and Caroline Mangan Stevens.
A resident of Sterling her entire life, Miss Stevens was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sterling, also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, the Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary to Post 296. For a number of years she was employed by the Nick Gaulrapp Wholesale House and S. E. Wheelock Company, as a bookkeeper. She attended the local public schools and Brown's Business College.
Surviving are one nephew, John R. Stevens of Sterling; one niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Burnstine of Davenport, Iowa; and two cousins, Mrs. Oscar Strock of Sterling and Bert Coe of Mapleton, Ore.; one sister and four brothers preceded her in death.
The body was moved to the Melvin Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Melvin Funeral Home, The Rev. Loyal M. Wilkinson, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Sterling will conduct services, burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.

INGRID (SUNBURG) STEVENS
- The remains of Mrs. Leroy Stevens of Chicago, a former resident of this vicinity for some time, were brought here Saturday evening for interment in the Tampico Cemetery. The funeral service was held at the home of the deceased's aunt, Mrs. Karna Peterson, on East Market St., and interment made in the Tampico Cemetery. The funeral services were in charge of Reverened C. D. McCammon, pastor of the Methodist church, and appropriate songs were sung by Mrs. R. E. McKenzie and Miss Hazel Meredith, Kathleen France as accompanist.
The pall bearers were Messrs Arthur Aldrich, W. F. Harris, Ed Peterson, Peter Peterson, J. M. Olson and A. J. Glassburn. A large number of friends of the family were present and many beautiful floral tributes were in evidence. Ingrid C. Sundburg was born in Sweden, March 19th, 1874, and died in St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago, Ill., Mar. 26th, 1915, aged forty-one years and seven days. Miss Sundburg was married to Leroy Stevens and enjoyed a happy married life until her husband's death January 4th, 1915.
Mrs. Stevens leaves to mourn her death her only child, Edward, her brothers, Albert Sundburg of Nebraska and Carl Sundburg of Prophetstown, and a brother, Helge, and two sisters, Anna and Alma, living in Sweden. Besides these members of the immediate family, other relatives are Mrs. Karna Peterson, an aunt, and Miss Carrie Peterson, a cousin, whose home was the home of Mrs. Stevens in America.
Mr. and Mrs. Stevens moved to Canada some years ago where her husband contracted a lingering disease from which he died three years later in Nova Scotia. Mrs. Stevens was a talented and thoroughly conscientious Christian lady, whose ernest and helpful assistance in church life in Tampico is happily recalled by many persons. She has gone to a well earned rest and her good works follow her while Goid takes her into his presence.

MADOLYN J. STEVENS
of 607 W. 11th St. Sterling, died today at the age of 51. She was born June 26, 1916 in Sterling, the daughter of Howard E. and Alice Ray Stevens. Miss Stevens was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, attended local schools and lived heer entire life in Sterling. She is survived by one sister Miss Pauline Stevens of Sterling with whom she made her home and one brother, Robert of Silver Springs MD.
A memorial to the Mental Health Society has been started in her memory. Burial will be in Riveside.

MILDRED HOWARD STEVENS
- Funeral services for Mildred Stevens, the 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stevens, were held in the Stevens home at 1:30 o'clock and in the Tampico Baptist Church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. R. E. Clearwaters, pastor of the Baptist Church. Rev. Clearwaters used as his text Zachariah 8:5, "And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof," and a portion of Jeremiah 15:5, quoting "Her sun is gone down while it was yet day."
The processional, "The Funeral March," by Chopin, was played by V. R. Olmstead of Prophetstown. Two hymns, "Jewels" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus," were beautifully sung by Mrs. V. R. Olmstead and Mrs. Harry Eschelman, both of Prophetstown. Mr. Olmstead played the piano accompaniment. The recessional, "Musical Study," by Kullak, was also played by Mr. Olmstead.
The church was filled with sympathetic relatives and friends who assembled to pay tribute to a loved one. Beautiful floral offerings brought to their hour their silent message of love and sympathy.
The casket was attended by Curtis Hammond, Fred Lofgren and Donald Graham of Prophetstown, Leland Stevens of Varna, and Raymond Foy and Leland Murray of Tampico.

Obituary - Mildred Howland Stevens was born October 6, 1920, on her grandfather's farm southeast of Prophetstown, and passed away at the home of her parents southwest of Tampico, March 5, 1932, at the age of 11 years, four months and 18 days, after an attack of influenza followed by pneumonia, closing a short, happy, useful life.
She was always thoughtful of others and her sunny smile and ready wit will be sorely missed by those who loved her. She was a member of the Tampico Baptist Church and took an active part in its work.
She leaves to mourn her loss her father and mother, a sister Marjorie Ellen, with whom she often sang in public, a baby brother, Marshall Irwin, and a little cousin, Kenneth Raymond, who were the delight of her heart, also grandparents, uncles, an aunt, cousins and a host of friends. - Funeral services for Abe H. Stuart of Morrison, who died Friday in the Eveningside Nursing Home, were held Monday afternoon in the Reynolds Funeral Home at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Harry Buis, pastor of the Ebenezer Reformed church, officiated and burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery. DAVID STUART
, 88, Morrison, died (Oct. 4. 1984) Thursday evening in Morrison Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Renkes-Reynolds Funeral Home, Morrison, with the Rev. Wayne Lemmen of the Ebenezer Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Ebenezer Reformed Church Radio Fund. David Stuart was born on April 23, 1896 in Whiteside County, the son of Henry and Catherine Osterhof Stuart. He was raised in the Morrison area and farmed with his brothers and sisters in Ustick Township all of his life until moving to Pleasant View four years ago. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church and was a State Champion Horse Shoe pitcher in the 1920's. Preceding him in death were four sisters and five brothers.

GEORGE STUART
, 85, of Morrison, died Tuesday afternoon (29 March 1977) at Morrison Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Renkes -Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. James Box officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Visitation will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
He was born May 27, 1892 in Morrison the son of Henry and Katherine Osterhof Stuart. He was reared and educated in the Morrison area. He farmed in the UIstick Townshnip all his life.
Survivors include one brother, Dave and one sister, both of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

JAMES K. STUART
, 88 of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at the nursing home.
James was born June 6, 1917, in Morrison, IL, to Fred and Tina (Wiersema) Stuart. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. He married Ida May Boelkens on March 1, 1941 in Morrison. James engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area. He also was employed as an insurance broker in Morrison until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison where he served as an usher. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Ida May; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Tiesman of Morrison, IL; one son, Thermon (Sara) Stuart of Fulton, IL; six grandchildren, Julie (Brett) Nicklaus, Kurt Tiesman, Brian (Dawn) Tiesman, Dan (Cheryl) Stuart, Michael (Maureen) Stuart, Lisa Stuart; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Walters and Mrs. Mildred "Millie" Schaver, both of Morrison; two brothers, Ervin (Delores) Stuart of Morrison and Robert G. (Arlene) Stuart of Fulton, IL.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Balk, three brothers, Arthur, Donald and Marion Stuart.
JANICE M. (EDLUND) STUART
, 58 of 1229 Ninth Ave. Fulton, died Saturday April 6, 2002 at her home. She was employed by General Electric, Morrison as a billing clerk and by Old Kent Bank, Grand Rapids MI as a secretary for many years. Mrs. Stuart was born June 11 1943, in Morrison the daughter of Fay N & Una (Dykema) Edlund. She was a 1961 graduate of Morrison High School. She married Robert K MITCHELL on Aug 10 1962. She then married John W Stuart Nov 10 1973 in Morrison. She was a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church where she served as a elder, trustee, financial secretary, Sunday school teacher and choir member, Whiteside County Association for Home and Community Education treasurer, and was a leader of TOPS IL 896. Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Susan (Robert) Gregory of St Augustine FL; two sons, Stephen (Sue Ann) Mitchell of Lenoir NC and William (Amy) Mitchell of Clemmons NC; two sisters, Mary (Jim) Poulter of Prophetstown and Mardelle (Larry) Bielema of Washington; a brother, Norman (Linda) Edlund of Morrison and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family prayer service is at 10:15 am Wednesday at Fulton Presbyterian Church, followed by the funeral at 10:30 am at the church with the Rev. Cathy Allen adn the Rev. Al Noakes , former interim pastors officiating. Burial is at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Fulton Chapel fo the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Fulton Presbytherian Church building fund.
