SAMUEL SHEPHERD
, was born June 11, 1811 in Derby Shire, England, married to Mary Ann Millwood in Derby in 1850. Emigrated to America in March 1857. Moved to Newton township in August 1859, then to Fenton in 1864, at which place he lived until death called him home on March 5, 1894. He was a member of Primitive Methodist church, uniting in early manhood. He was one whom all respected for his constant and exemplar life, and those who knew him best, loved him most. He was a good husband, father and neighbor, and never was known to speak ill of any one, forgave those who wronged him, gladly and holding malice toward none, were among his last words. He was father of thirteen children, three preceding him to the unknown. Those who are left to mourn are the following: His faithful wife and ten children are Mrs. Maria Stockle of Sterling, Samuel, Junior, of Fenton, Mrs. Hannah Gibler of Dallas CO. IA, William of Fenton, Harry and Mrs. Sarah Terry of Canada, Chester of Van Orin, Mrs. Ella Eads of Fenton, Frank and Mrs. Elizabeth Modler of Sterling, Harry and Frank are unmarried and live on the old home place. Rev. E. A. Spring of Erie, officiated at the funeral. The remains were interred in the Lebanon (Fenton) cemetery to await the final resurrection. The funeral occurred Wednesday March 7th at 10:30.m.

ANNIE MAY (JUMPER) SHUGHART
,77, N. 4th Ave., died at her home at 11:45 p.m. Thursday after an extended illness. The body was taken to the Melvin Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Harry E. Shiffer, pastor of the Rock Falls Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Shughart was born April 21, 1878, at Plainfield, Pa., daughter of Simon and Elizabeth Rickabaugh Jumper. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clara Hess, Rock Falls, Anna at home, and Mrs. Myron Madison, Minneapolis, Minn.; two sons, William of Moline, and Dan at home; two brothers, Elmer Jumper of Rock Falls, and David Jumper of Carlisle, Pa.; and four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her husband, Franklin, died Aug. 26, 1933. Several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

ANNYCE E. SLOCUM
- Funeral services for Mrs. Annyce E. Slocum of Morrision who passed away Saturday morning at the home of her daughter where she made her home were held Tuesday afternoon in the Reynolds Funeral Home. The Rev. David Fouts, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated, and burial was in the Lusk Memorial Cemetery at Albany. Pallbearers were Charles Slocum, Charles Yohn, Blair Slocum,Warren Slocum, Richard Digby and John Besse. The beautiful floral arrangements were taken care of by Mrs. Reuben Garwick, Mrs. Fred Hammer and Miss Myrtle Ewers. A special organ selection was played by Nancy Digby. Mrs. Abe Renkes, organist, played the prelude and postlude for the service.

GERTRUDE STUFF
- The funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Stull will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Woods Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Samuelson of Rockford. He will be assisted by the Rev. Lawrence R. Axelson, pastor of Fourth Street Methodist Church, Sterling. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery.

MARION FRANCIS SWICK
, 78, died May 13 in the Nevada City Hospital, Nevada, Mo., and was buried in City Cemetery, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Tuesday. Born Feb. 2, 1894, the son of Osborne C. and Eliza Jane Bass Swick in Merna, Neb., he was united in marriage to Lula Maude Forney, who preceded him in death Jan. 10, 1942. A veteran of World War I, he worked for many years as a fireman for railroad companies until 1944, when he was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, until full retirement. He was united in marriage to Ethel Rhes (?) in Como in July, 1965, and they moved to El Dorado Springs to make their home about five years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel; a son Clifford of Sterling; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Maynard, Rock Falls; two stepsons, John Kneebone, Waldport, Oregon, and Edward Switzer of Chicago; five step daughters, Mrs. Maude Torres, Waldport, Ore., Mrs. Barbara DelRosario, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; Mrs. Dollie Kusior, Dixon; Mrs. Velma Steder, DeKalb; Mrs. Sally Branch, Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Ella Hoagland, Rock Falls; a brother, William of California, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
