Old Home in Albany - Main Street 1916

Residences of J.R. and W.J. Bell ---------------------------------- Residence of Roswell Champion

The residence of Mr. George H. Davison was featured in the 1897 Issue of the Sterling Standard. George Davison came from New York around 1853.

In 1896 he is listed as a flour and feed dealer in Sterling. The 1900 Census shows Mr. Davison's age as 67 born June 1832 in NY, his wife Jennie D. is 66 born April 1834 NY. The address given is 810 West 3rd street Sterling. His neighbor at #902 was Elliott Galt. They have been married 43 years by this time but I didn't find a marriage record in Illinois.

Out of curiosity I looked at the 1880 Census where George H. Davison is found in Hopkins Township, a farmer age 48. His wife Jennie is listed as age 46 also born in NY.

Residence of Andrew Thomas Glassburn - Tampico Biography of A.T. Glassburn

The home of Capt. William Parker was featured in the 1897 Sterling Standard Newspaper. Mr. Parker was the senior member of the firm of Parker & Mentzer, editors and proprietors of The Rock Falls News. William Parker was born in Kentucky but has lived in Illinois since 1855. He also served his country in the 75th IL Infantry and has been a member of the Republican party since it began.

The 1900 Census give the address of Wm. Parker as 810 1st Avenue in Sterling. He is listed as age 64 born Nov. 1835 in KY. His wife is Edna E. age 37 born Dec. 1862 in NY. The census shows them only married for 2 years and I did find a Cook County marriage dated 8 June 1898 between W. H. Parker and Mrs. Edna E. Mason. The census also shows she is the mother of one child - he is not listed as the father of any children. Biography
