The People of the State of Illinois to all to Whom these presents shall come Greeting:
Be it known, that this License doth authorize any regular Minister of the Gospel,
authorized to marry by the Church or Society to which he belongs: any Justice of the
Supreme Court, Judge or Justice of the Peace, to celebrate and certify, within this
County, the marriage of Mr. John Henry Hewitt with Miss Calista Ann Taylor according
to law and the usual custom, the said John H Hewitt having the written consent of his
Father. And the said Calista Ann Taylor being of the full age of Eighteen years as
appears by the oath of the said John H. Hewitt and for so doing this shall be a good
and sufficient Warrant. And it is required by Law, that a return hereof be made by the
Minister, Judge or Justice, to the clerk of the County Court of said County, according
to the form annexed, within thirty days from the date of said marriage, under penalty
of one hundred dollars, for failure to do so to go to the use of the County, to be
recovered by indictment.
Witness, R. DE. Gannon, Clerk of the said County Court, and the seal of said court,
hereunto affixed at Sterling, this 30th day of June in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.

I, the subscriber, a Minister of the Gospel Union Grove do hereby certify that I have this day
joined in Marriage, Mr. John Henry Hewitt and Miss Calista Ann Taylor according to law and the
usual custom, as by the annexed License authorized. Given under my hand, this 3rd day of
July A.D. 1854.

applied to the Clerk of Said Court for a Marriage license is of the full age of Eighteen years
so help me, God
