Destructive Hail Storm
On the 12th inst., the northern part of this county was visited by a desolating hail storm. In Lockport, most of the windows were broken and in Yankee Settlement the destruction was immense. The hail were of an uncommon large size and in places, fell to the depth of several inches. In the district visited by the storm, which extends several miles, the crops are entirely ruined. Large numbers of sheep and other stock were injured or killed; and as regards vegetation, it truly presents a scene of desolation. No estimate can be made of the damages, but it must be large as it passed through the most thickly inhabited portion of the county. – Joliet Signal.
