Troutman's Grove
On the southeast side of the DesPlaines river, within the present town of Channahon, but known then as Troutman's Grove, there settled, in 1831 or 1832, Joseph McCune and John Troutman; and in 1833, Robert Thornburg and sons, one of whom, John Thornburg, still resides there.
