Greer, Robert Oliver--
was born 16 Oct 1870 in Grassy Twp, Wmson Co, IL. The s/o Benjamin and Rachel (Baker). Their children were: Jessie, Louie, Frank, Lydia, Lou, Ida and Joana. Robert married Cora Hudson the d/o Richard and Sarah (Frances). Robert's children are: Olla, Rolla (b 24 Jan 1892), Lona and Loa. Robert recieved his teaching certificate 08 Apr 1892 at SIU-C and taught in Wmson Co schools. About 1900, they family moved to Herrin, were they ran a grocery at the corner of Ford and 13th Street. The store is no longer there, but it was on the corner where South Side Jr High is located. My grandpa remembered the store and said it was more a general store. Where the miners and kids bought lunches. Robert also served as Mayor of Herrin from 1915 to 1917. Robert died 08 Jan 1951. His wife, Cora, died 21 Jan 1962

On 04 Apr 1867 he married Sarah Margaret Fisher. The family came to Wmson Co, IL in 1869, moving to Marion in 1898. Sarah died 19 Mar 1904 in Marion. She had 8 children:Marie Josphine, Roy, Sydney C, Bertha, Benjamin Eura and 3 others. Benjamin then married Pauline Campbell on 23 Sep 1904. (1905)
