Thomas' grandfather was Thomas Sr, born 17 Feb 1764 in Scotland, he brought his family to NJ and fought in the Rev War. Thomas', father was first married to Rebecca McGraw on 21 Jun 1817 in Xenia, OH, she died 23 Mar 1834. His second marriage was to Thomas' mother, Levina Binkley, they married in 1836 TN. His mother died 24 Dec 1854. Thomas was in Co A 31st IL Inf during the Civil War. After the war on 22 Feb 1866, he married Rebecca Kelley, the d/o Benjamin and Susan. (1887)

In 1832 he returned to Ireland and later died in Scotland. His mother was also born in Ireland, she returned with her husband in 1832 and after his death came back to the US in 1839. She stayed in MA until 1870 when she moved to Murphysboro, IL to live with her son George. She died in 1874 at the age of 82. She had 8 children: Cunningham, George, Anne MA and 5 others. Cunningham married Ann E Richard the d/o William on 27 Nov 1855. She was born 21 Apr 1828 in PA.. Their children were: Edward C, Margaret, Sarah E, Alice M, William T and Ann E. They lived in Western Twp and leased some land to the Cystal Plate Glass Co for mine rights. (1887)
