She leaves a husband who is nearly blind with a house full of little children.--The widow BEVERLY residing eight miles northwest of this place met with quite a serious misfortune of Friday last. She by some means, fell and broke her thigh and was unable to extricate herself from her uncomfortable position (being alone) where she remained until late in the evening when her cry for help was heard by a boy, who at once notified the neighbors when surgical aid was called in. Drs. DENNISON, BENTLEY & MITCHELL dressed the wound. --Monday morning about 6 oclock, the cry of fire was heard, and it was found that the residence of Frank LOWE, on South Main street was on fire. The flames had got under considerable headway, and had not our citizens responded promptly, and with a united effort administered water copiously, the result would have proved disastrous in a very few moments. We are glad to state that no great damage
--Rev. R W PERDUE and wife are the happy parents, a boy. Last Friday --time.--Prof E.C. The Dr. has many acquaintances here, Williamson County being his home in by gone days. --Mr. VANCE the blind man who was in this place last week, requests us to return through the columns of the Monitor, his thanks the citizens of this place for the kindness shown him while he was in our midst. --Dr. J. DAVIDSON who resided three or four miles southeast of this place, died last Monday and was buried at this place yesterday. Dr. D. was a citizen of our town for a number of years, and was for a considerable length of time associated with Dr. RM HUNDLEY in the practice of medicine. He was 70 years of age.--DIED last Sunday about three oclock in the evening, a little girl of some four or five summers, of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. GOODALL, of this place. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of their many friends.--Mrs. BEVERLY, the lady spoken of last week, as having her thigh broken, died Sunday morning. --Elder W.H. BOLES baptized Mrs. WP. GOODALL and Mrs. SHEPPARD into the fellowship with the Christian church last Sunday. --Just as we go to press we learn that Mr. E.M. PHILLIPS, who but a few days ago, left this place for Xenia, Ill., was brought to Carbondale, last night, a corpse. Mrs. PHILLIPS and her two children left here last Monday to join the deceased who at that time, so far as she knew, was in good health and bid fare for a long life. These realities admonish us that while we are in the bloom of life we are in the midst of death and should be ready to answer the summons.--Dr. D.R. SANDERS, of Grassy, called on us last week, gave us some work and of course, subscribed for the Monitor. We find the Dr. to be a very sociable gentleman and a good judge of a county paper.
