--Brice HOLLAND and family met with a misfortune last Sunday which came near ending fatally. They were driving out west of town in a two horse buggy, when the team took fright and started to run. On the first jump the lines parted and left the unfortunate party without any means of checking the speed of the frightened team or extrication themselves from the danger which awaited them. They had gone but a short distance when Mr. H. was thrown from the buggy and the team from the beaten track of the road and collided the buggy against a tree, which made quick work of separating the team and buggy and inflicting severe wounds on Mrs. HOLLAND and her two children. We are pleased to state that they are recovering.

MARRIED--DAVIS, GEORGE.-February 13, at the residence of the bride's parents, at White Sulpher SPRINGS, Ky., by the Rev. John H. SPURLIN, Rev. E.E. DAVIS and Miss Sallie J. GEORGE.Brother DAVIS is too well known to the readers of the Monitor to need a description from me; and as to the fair young bride, suffice it to say that when she goes with her husband to Illinois, Kentucky will lose one of its fairest and most intelligent ladies, and the Baptist church here a most active and consistent member. May Heaven's best blessing be theirs. John W. FOWLER.
