Samuel (should be Savannah), 91, died at her home, RFD 2, Marion, at 12:20 p.m. yesterday. The deceased was born at Karnak Feb. 1857 to James and Nancy Ann Smith Mayes. She was
first married to Thad Newell at Karnak in 1873. He preceded her in death. She was later married to James E. Finucane in St. Louis. Surviving is one son, Thomas E. Newell, by her first marriage and one sister, Mrs.Annie Pike. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mount Pleasant church, south of Crab Orchard.

Fowler, Dillie J. (nee Jones) was born in Perry County 4 Feb. 1893 and died 31
Apr 1914 Pittsburg, IL. She was married to Oral Fowler 5 Jun 1912. She professed her hope in Christ five years ago, up to which she lived faithfully. When she kissed her mother and husband good by she told them that God would take care of her. About an hour before she died she told her husband she wanted her baby called Oral Le Fern. She leaves to mourn her death, a husband, father and mother, a sister and three brothers. She was loved by all her many friends.
Fowler, George W former resident of Herrin, was buried at the Herrin city cemetery Sunday afternoon, Rev. I.M. Lyerla conducting the funeral service. Mr. Fowler was 86 years of age. He was one of the old residents of Herrin and a few years ago moved to Energy, where he resided at the time of his death.
