Section 4 Rogersville was est by James Rogers

Section 6 Saraville was est by John T Davis and named for his daughter Sara. Also called Sayerville, on the 1876 map in section 4

Section 19 Gum Spring was on Sugar Creek.

Section 25 Stonefort was known to the French in the 1700's as Eau de Salle and was probably a French trading post at one time. Stonefort was first located in Saline Co about a mile over the county line. The town grew up near an old stone fort, thus the name. There is an unknown school in 1876 & the Stonefort PO. The RR missed this town, so the town of Bolton was plated in 1872 by James Russell around the station. Over time the old village of Stone fort moved to what was called Bolton, taking the post office with it.  Although it wasn't until about 1936 when the town was officially named Stone Fort.
