Stotlar-Herrin Cemetery

12th Street--Herrin

 

12th Street is behind me, this is the left side. Mostly the Herrin family is buried on this side of the cemetery. Notice the stone on the ground (to the left). The oldest stones have been placed this way in concrete. Unfortunately, this causes the stone to weather much faster than if it was upright.

 

This is the right side, there are many broken stones under the tree in the middle of the picture. Behind the tree are were the Stotlar family is buried

 

This is the newer stone for the first settler of Herrin's Prairie, Isaac Herring and his wife Unity. You can see part of the original stone which was laid flat on the ground in concrete.
