| Clara Bailey married Joseph
Wilson on 29 Dec 1880 in Stephen and Martha Cummins' home in Palestine
Township. Joseph was the son of Jonathon R. and Sarah A.
Wilson of Greene Township. 1873 Greene Township map shows that J. R. Wilson had a lot of farmland in 1873. Land in blocks 17, 19, and 20 appear to belong to him. Next to his land in block 20 is land belonging to H. Stephenson, which is believed to be Henry Stephenson --- Martha's dad. Stephen Cummins name was found in the 1873 Patron's Directory for Palestine Township. Carrie Cummins and Winnie Ayres were witnesses to their marriage. Carrie was one of Stephen Cummins and Almira Darst's (Stephen's first wife) daughters. In the Woodford County Marriages, (just below the stories titled "Double Knot" and "Golden Wedding"), is a story from The Minonk Journal dated March 4 1882. It tells of the wedding between Mr. Henry L. Steward and Miss Etta Nofsinger. The article says the bride was attended by Misses Ella Collins, Carrie Cummins, and Maggie Baird. |
