Seniors
.....this, our last year at LWHS,
started with the direction of freshmen initiation. As projects, we
sponsored a bake sale, sold pop at the home games, and sold
stationery.
At the homecoming dance on February 3, against a
background of red and white hearts, Sharon Burdon and Jim Robinson were
crowned king and queen. Attendants were Barb Emery, Carole Funk,
Alicia Laible, Dave Cochran, Kenny Winkler, and Dalton
Jessup.
Another project was our play on April 6. These
projects were all successful and so we are looking forward to the senior
trip.
We want to thank our sponsors, Miss Lavell, Mr. Eckstein, and
Mr. Rittenhouse, for their guidance in making this year a successful one.

Senior Will
We, the
Senior Class of 1956, being of sound mind and good memory, do hereby
declare this to be our last will and testament. I, Sharon Burdon,
bequeath my recently acquired spanish accent and my vocabulary,
which I hope to increase to the extent of being able to someday
interpret my faithful Mexican pen pal's letters, to Joan
Bennington. I, Carolyn Call, will my activeness in all sports,
including tripping lightly over hayrakes, to Marilyn Hill with the
hope that broken bones will not be the result. I, David Cochran,
leave my collection of highway traffic signs, fence posts,
multicolored fenders, and my reliable old "Huddie" to Terry
Robbins. I, Donna Eilts, bequeath my useless information gained
through 40 minute chats during History class with Kenny Winkler to
Karla Kail. Believe me Karla, it's a sacrifice - they're
priceless. I, Barbara Emery, bequeath my calm, cool, collected
method of driving to Janet Gronewold and my interests in the
institutes of higher learning, mainly to U of I, to Winnie
Miller. I, Carole Funk, will my ability to balance equations in
chemistry to my colleague, Tony Glaub, and my desire to slop
together a new chemical compound to Harold Smith. I, Beverly
Gardner, will my expense of keeping the lights burning into the late
hours every evening in order to maintain that "A" average to Oliver
Zenzen and my luck in having basketball games fall on my night to
work goes to betty Brandt. I, Ralph Gay, the super stationery
salesman, leave to Paul Foster all my science fiction novels with
the hope that he too will obtain pleasure by exploring the vast
regions bound between their covers. I, Robert Hicks, will my
little black book containing numerous names and phone numbers of my
old flames to John D. Lear and Billy Sticklmaier. Here's
hoping you boys never suffer a dateless night. I, Shirley Hollis,
bequeath my good-natured acceptance of assignments to Walter Loscher
and my unique method of studying bookkeeping to Charlotte
Golden. I, Janet Janssen, will my ability to work with numbers
and my skill at simplifying the most difficult mathematices problems
by using my original short-cut formula to Enid Strauch. My
co-editorship of the yearbook goes to Sandra Ingold. I, Joyce
Jenkins, will my habit of frequenting the great metropolis of Lacon
to Janet Tyson and my worn out baseball mitt to Dee Foster. I,
Judy Jenkins, bequeath my ten nimble fingers specially adapted for
speed and accuracy in typing and producing that rythmic tempo of the
"Twelfth Street Ray" to Jim Beschorner. I, Dalton Jessup, will my
winning ways with the girls to Donald Ransom and my restless nights
spent rehearsing speeches to Roger Unzicker. I, Alicia Laible,
bequeath my notebook of non-humorous themes and box of "Charm Plus
Capsules" to Carol Pomeranke. I, Barbara Norris, leave my
favorite hobby of "accidentally" crushing test tubes and overheating
thermometers in chemistry class to terry Jones. I, Judy Porch,
bequeath my ability to develop the art of filling, then spilling
water glasses, coffee cups, and soup bowls to Mary Lou Murphy.
Remember the customer's always right! I, Jim Robinson, will my
track shoes to Richard Mackie. They served their purpose on
the field but are a better asset for outdistancing members of the
opposite sex. I, Linda Schertz, though small in stature yet
strong in spirit, bequeath my promptness to volunteer for pop sales
duty to Clarice strauch, and my characteristi of supplying a
humorous phase to every situation to Jane Laible. I, Mary Ann
Schneider, will my methods for trapping a man the quick and easy way
to Melony Gray and my dislike for the atrocious dance steps which
are the current fad to bonnie Finch. I, Janet Tjaden, leave my
night-rite fountain pen and emply stationery box to Nina McKittrick
with the agreement that she will capitalize on its life time
guarantee. I, Carl Unzicker, leave my most treasured possession,
the stickers on my "Chevie" doors, to Roger Nuske. They will
become effective on January 1, 2962. I, Kenny Vandeveer, will my
well-developed skill of inserting coke bottles into the cylinder
shaped compartments of the coke machine to Mike Swanson.
You'll labor while they profit is my wraning. I, Barbara Weers,
bequeath my good judgment in selecting the preparatory homemaking
courses, which are offered for the sole purpose of preventing future
haphazard homemakers, to Ardith Damerell and Cecelia Imhoff. I,
Kenny Winkler, will my numerous theories on "How to Make History
Classes More Interesting" to Jim Blackburn and my headaches from
constant worry about the success of the Future Farmers to John
Whirrell and Roger Haney.
