Baseball

The Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats opened the 1955-1956 baseball season at McNabb with a 2 to 1 loss to Swaney.  This game proved to be one of the most outstanding of the season, due to the fact that Jessup pitched a one-hitter.

An exciting contest in which the Wildcats were the victors was the decisive win over Benson, a highly rated Tri-County conference team.  Robinson, pitching the entire game, allowed the opponents 2 hits.  The Broncos scored 2 runs while Lowpoint-Washburn scored 12 runs on 14 hits.

With approximately 20 boys, including seven returning lettermen, seeking to fill the vacancies left by last year's senior regulars, Coach Eckstein had plenty of material from which to choose his starting line up.

Although the number of wins was outweighted by the losses when the season came to a close, this cannot overshadow the fact that the Lowpoint-Washburn nine had staged some very impressive battles.
