Sophomore Officers President.....Velma Call Vice-President.....Harold Schrock Secretary and Treasurer.....Leonard Schneider Sophomore Class History It is claimed that history repeats itself, but we doubt that the history of the Sophomore Class will ever be repeated. I am sure that the rest of the Class will join me in saying that when school started we were nervous and frightened for fear of doing something wrong and constantly in fear of being laughed at by the upper classmen. There were ten members at the beginning of the year, and although our members were small we were mighty. Our first Class meeting was held during the Freshman year and Harold Schrock was elected president; Velma Call, vice-president and Ralph Turley, secretary-treasurer. Miss Good was elected Class Advisor. We enjoyed a weiner roast with the Juniors. About three weeks after school had started Alvin Schrock joined us but only attended school two weeks. Ira Moreland moved away during the first quarter. This left us nine members. Before school was out, the Freshmen and the Sophomores entertained the school and Faculty at an opposite party. As Sophomores, we entered the school feeling very well acquainted. At our Class meeting Velma Call was elected president; Harold Schrock, vice-president and Leonard schneider, secretary-treasurer. Mr. Satterfield was elected our Class Advisor. We enjoyed a weiner roast with the Seniors at the first of the year. One of our members, James Arnold, left us in November. On December the ninth the Class gave a box social and made $33.00. We topped it all off by giving a Christmas party to the school and Faculty with the aid of Mr. Satterfield our Advisor. Since we had some money left, and no real use for it we bought the Basket Ball boys new sweat shirts. We had two members of our Class having perfect attendance for the year. The present members of the Class are: Standing, left to right, Raymond Banta, Frank Gieseking, Harold Schrock, Leonard Schneider, Ralph Turley. Seated, left to right: Velma Call, Margaret Hofstatter, Mabel Hare. |
