In the fall of twenty-seven, fourteen verdant Freshman entered this "Hall of Wisdom". We were all so green that the grass almost looked pale beside us. The following were the members of our Class: Jewell Adams, Leona Hare, Irma Dieckow, Felicia Durst, Velma Broers, Una Owen, Ruth Banta, Henry Tjaden, Vernell Schierer, Vernon Scheirer, Arthur Whisler, Earl Lodge, Theodore Hahn and Ralph Metz. After many suggestions one of our brave members summoned enough courage to ask Mr. Messamore to call a Class meeting. We elected Earl Lodge president. Later, we organized a club and held monthly meetings at the homes of the members of our class. On the fifth of December one of our members, Irma Dieckow, left shool in order to be with some of her relatives in Peoria.
After the Christmas holidays another of our Class, Felicia Durst, failed to come back for some unknown reason. We now have a class of twelve consisting of seven boys and five girls. We look forward to many more good times during the remainder of our High School career.
