MAMIE ZOOK DIES IN LACON AT AGE
101
WASHBURN -- Mamie E. Zook, 101, of St.
Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon since 1983, formerly of Washburn, died at 1 p.m.
Saturday, July 3, 1993, at the nursing home. Born Aug. 15, 1891, in Hopewell
Township, Marshall County, to Joseph P. and Katherine Klein Maubach, she married
Fred W. Zook on Dec. 27, 1916, in Henry. He died in September 1962. Two sons,
Norman and Leland, three brothers, three sisters and two great-grandchildren
also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Harold and Paul, both of
Washburn; two daughters, Dorothy Laible of Washburn and Marilyn Engel of Peoria;
17 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She
was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Washburn and its Altar and
Rosary Society.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at her church. The Revs.
Neri Greskoviak and Jeffrey Laible will officiate. Visitation will be one hour
before services at the church. Burial will be in Linn-Mount Vernon Cemetery in
Washburn. Newton Memorial Home in Washburn is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart
Association.
Violet
Zoss
Violet Zoss, 81, of Lowpoint, IL, passed away at 4:10 a.m.
Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1930, in Washburn, IL, the
daughter of Andrew D. and Goldie (Mishler) Unzicker. She married Arthur L.
Zoss on Jan. 10, 1951, in Roanoke. He passed away on Jan. 19, 1996.
Surviving are one son, James (Evie) Zoss of Lowpoint,
and four daughters, Linda (Jim) Shrock and Laurel (Cliff) Bender, both of
Lowpoint, Shirley Lowe of Chipita Park, Colo, andd Sharon Ulrich of
Washburn. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: 13
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn (Ken) Stauffer of Elkhart,
IN. She was preceded in death by one grandson,
Caleb Zoss; one sister; and one brother. Violet
was a member of Cazenovia Mennonite Church. She was devoted to the
Lord and her family, investing her life into the lives of others. In her
later years, she ministered with compassion to ladies in prison.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011,
at Eureka Bible Church, with the Rev. Dennis Kennell and the Rev. Tom Swanson
officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eureka Bible
Church and also one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Roanoke
Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
Peoria Rescue Ministries and Cazenovia Mennonite Church Building

Elaine J. Zivney
53 of 736 W. Fifth St., Minonk died
at 10:28 P.M. on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at OSF St. Joseph’s Medical Center
in Bloomington. Elaine was born August 4, 1954 at Pontiac a daughter of Roy and
Velma Lewis Moritz. She married Jeffrey P. Zivney on September 15, 1973 in
Benson, IL. He survives. Also surviving: three daughters, Mykal (Mark) Stephens
of Rutland, Jackie Zivney of Minonk, Joleen (Ray) Hudson of Minonk; three
grandchildren, Justin Stephens, Jeffrey Stephens and Rebecca Hudson; one sister,
Janice Walker of Roanoke; her mother and father-in-law, Ray and Emily Zivney of
Sun City, AZ; and her chocolate lab Jake. She was preceded in death by her
parents. Elaine graduated from Roanoke-Benson High School in 1972 She then
graduated from Illinois Central College, where she received her LPN. She was
employed as a nurse for Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minonk She was a member of
the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk. She also was the former Chief
of the Minonk Ambulance Squad and was the Vice President of Zivney Cheese,
Minonk. She enjoyed making and painting ceramics. Most of all Elaine enjoyed her
family, husband, children, and grandchildren. She always put others before
herself. Memorial contributions may be directed to an educational fund for her

Zivney
51, of 403 W. Church St., Lovington, IL; formerly of
Minonk, passed away at 8:24 pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at OSF Saint Francis
Medical Center. She was born on May 2, 1956 in Peoria, IL to Warren and Shirley
Redenius Missey. She married Joseph Zivney on December 5, 1981 in Benson, IL. He
survives. Also surviving: one daughter, Deniah Missey of Decatur; two sons,
Shane Missey (fiancé Molly) of Nashville, TN, Chris Zivney of Minonk; her
parents, Warren and Shirley Missey of Benson; her maternal grandmother, Louise
Redenius of Benson, five grandchildren, Samantha, Trevor, Dylon, Keagan and
Zachariah; three sisters, Wendy Elliott of Georgetown, KY, Vickie Missey of
Benson, Peggy (Dan) Sciarini of Winter Springs, FL; one brother, Terry Missey of
Magnolia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
maternal grandfather, paternal grandparents, and one nephew. Sheila was a member
of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Benson where she had served as a Lutheran
League Sponsor for a number of years. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts
and she also volunteered as an election judge for many years. Funeral services
will be held at 10:00 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Benson on Saturday,
February 2, 2008. The Rev. William Hecht will officiate. Visitation will be from
4:30-8:30 pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Friday, February 1, 2008 and one
hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at St. Peter
Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American

Fannie A. Zehr
92, of 700 N. Main
St. Eureka, IL passed away at 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Eureka
Community Hospital. She was born on September 17, 1916 in Deer Creek Township a
daughter of Peter and Louisa Sutter Zehr. She is survived by one brother, Milton
(Helen) Zehr of Morton; one sister, Doris (Robert) Yoder of Eureka; and twelve
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and
two sisters. Fannie worked for the Mennonite Publishing House and Provident book
store in Bloomington. She had also worked for a book store at Goshen College and
for the Mennonite Central Committee in Akron, PA. She was a member of the First
Mennonite Church in Morton, Maple Lawn Auxillary, Mennonite Women, and did
volunteer work for the Mennonite Central Committee. Fannie had a deep love for
her church, family, and books. She was dearly loved by her nieces, nephews, and
many friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October
24, 2008 at First Mennonite Church in Morton. Rev. Doane Brubaker will
officiate. Private burial will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at Pleasant Grove
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church on
Friday. There will also be a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October
25, 2008 at the Maple Lawn assembly room. The Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate.
Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is handling arrangements. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maple Lawn Homes or the First

Mary M. Zehr
87, of Eureka,
formerly of Morton, died at 4:28 pm on Sunday March 11, 2007 at Maple Lawn
Health Center in Eureka where she was a resident. She was born in 1919 in Deer
Creek, IL to Peter and Louisa Sutter Zehr. Mary is survived by one brother,
Milton (Helen) Zehr of Morton; two sisters, Fannie Zehr and Doris (Robert) Yoder
both of Eureka; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
parents; two brothers, Orrie and Roy Zehr; and one sister, Velma Zehr. Mary
lived her life serving others. She was an elementary teacher in the area for
many years. She also was a member of the Mennonite Central Committee, the
Mennonite Women, the Maple Lawn Auxiliary, and was involved in the Eureka Et
Cetera shop for over 20 years serving as day manager. She was a member of the
First Mennonite Church in Morton, where a memorial service was held at 11:00 am
on Saturday March 24. The Rev. Doane Brubaker officiated. Cremation rites
were accorded and burial of ashes were in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Tremont at
a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Lawn Homes or the
