JAMES

NALS Monday 16 Dec 1872 p4 c4: William James, ex-Clerk of Clark county, and an old and esteemed citizen of Jeffersonville, died at his residence on Saturday morning at 6 o'clock and was buried yesterday afternoon. Mr. James was a large hearted, generous man, more kind to his friends and the public than to himself. His funeral was attended by a large concourse of those friends who had known him long and well, and had learned to appreciate the kingly motives that he had actuated him to nurse the sick and assist to pay the last and funeral rites to many of the former citizens of Clark county. He leaves a wife and a family of interesting children, besides a very large circle of friends and relatives to mourn his loss.
