Funeral services for Mrs. Ella K. Maier, 71, 256 Erni Ave., New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Seabrook Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Graceland Memorial Park. She died at 1:10 p.m. Monday at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Versailles, a retired guard at the old Olin-Mathieson Co., and a member of Graceland Baptist Church. Survivors are one son, William B. Maier, New Albany; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Kiesler, New Albany; one sister, Miss Edna Koehne, Seymour; and five grandchildren. Lawrence G. Mann, 73, died yesterday in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. at the age of 73. He was a native of New Albany and a retired hardwood flooring contractor. Surviving are four sons, Ronald, Louis, Charles and Lawrence H. Mann, all of New Albany; three daughters, Mrs. John (Louise) Gautz, Flint, Mich., Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Gibson, Clarksville, and Mrs. Warren (Ruth) Miller, Midwest City, Okla.; four sisters, Mrs. Chester Scott and Mrs. Louis Bryant, and Miss Isabella Mann, all of Jeffersonville, and Mrs. Frank Reed, Brooksville, Fla.; 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Ronald L. Mann, 77, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Navilleton Cemetery. He died Wednesday at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Care. He was a native of New Albany, a retired industrial arts teacher at Providence High School, owner-operator of the former Ronald L. Mann Hardwood Flooring Company and a member of Carpenters Union Local 436, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Men’s Club of the church. Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret L. Schmidt; three sons, Ronald W., Robert L. and Mark A. Mann, New Albany; a daughter, Margaret J. Beck, New Albany; two brothers, Louis L. Mann, Sellersburg and Lawrence H. Mann Jr., New Albany; two sisters, Dorothy Gibson, Clarksville and Ruth Miller, Wellston, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Home will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services for Charles P. Marguet, 77, of 917 E. Elm St., New Albany, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. He died Tuesday at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. He was president and chairman of the board of New Albany Box & Basket Co. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary McBarron; a son, C. Patrick Marguet, New Albany; two daughters, Margaret Marguet and Mrs. Mary A. Nord, both of New Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Anna M. Osborn of Jeffersonville, Mrs. Margaret Moser and Mrs. Helen Schmitt, both of New Albany; and eight grandchildren. Schoenbaechler Marking, 93, of New Albany, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. She was a native of Louisville and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany. Survivors include four sons, Charles A. Marking, Lanesville, Anthony E. Marking, Ft. Myers, Fla., and Arthur L. and Joseph H. Marking, New Albany; seven daughters, Bernadette Fife, Greenville, Bertha Higdon, Jeffersonville, Mary Didat, Floyds Knobs, Alberta Wagner, Sellersburg, Rita Schueler and Ruth Houghton, New Albany, and Kathleen Stewart, Lanesville; three brothers, Edward Schoenbaechler and Rev. Charles Schoenbaechler, Louisville and William Schoenbaechler, Lehigh, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Rose Limb and Catherine Eastham,  Louisville; 39 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 4 and 12 noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services for Arthur J. “A.J.” Marking, 86, of Lanesville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday at his home. He was a native of Louisville, a retired pipe fitter and a member of Pipe Fitters Union Local 522, and had formerly been active in the Floyd County 4-H program. Survivors include his wife, the former Antoinette A. Schoenbaechler; four sons, Anthony E. Marking of Floyds Knobs, Arthur L. and Joseph H. Marking, both of New Albany, and Charles A. Marking, Lanesville; seven daughters, Bernadette Fife of Greenville, Alberta Wagner and Rita Schueler, both of New Albany, Bertha Higdon of Jeffersonville, Mary Didat of Floyds Knobs, Ruth Houghton of Georgetown and Kathleen Stewart, Lanesville; 37 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mabel Mosier Martin, 90, of Palmyra, were held today at Love Funeral Home, with burial in Central Barren Cemetery. She died Friday at Floyd Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church in New Albany. MAUZEY

NALS Wednesday 13 Nov 1872 p4 c1: Capt. A. J. Mauzey, for thirty years past a resident of Jeffersonville, died last evening. At the Coroner's inquest it was ascertained that he was at work in his shop as usual yesterday, and on the family calling him to supper it was discovered that he had been dead some hours. It was announced apoplexy by the physicians called to examine his body.

MCCAMPBELL

Funeral services for Allen Winslow McCampbell, 70, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 8, at Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Atkins Chapel, Floyds Knobs. He died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. He was a native of Milton, Ky. and was a retired manager for the One Hour Martinizing Drycleaners. He was a member of American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Hobart Beach Post 1693. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Ann McCampbell (Von Allmen); a son, Mark A. McCampbell, Goodyear, Ariz.; daughter, Terri L. Ott, Georgetown; a sister, Patricia Shofner Evans, Columbus; and two grandchildren, Travis and Justin Ott. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 7. Funeral services for T. Trinler “Trin” McCulloch, 81, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. He died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Rolling Hills Healthcare Center. He was an engineer in the HVAC industry and was a member of the American Legion and the TKE Fraternity. Survivors include his sons, Trinler D. McCulloch and wife, Jackie and Christopher McCulloch and wife, Alice; four daughters, Trinette Sullivan, Traci Carroll and husband, David, Pamela Stephens and husband, Norm and Barbara Gullett McCulloch; 10 grandchildren; the children’s mother, Vivian Kitterman McCulloch; and his companion, Bette Hines. Funeral services for Mrs. Donald C. McDonald, 74, of 2416 Green Valley Rd., New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. She died Sunday at her home. She was the former Lorine E. Brockman, a native of Floyd County and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Marion Guild of the church. Survivors include four sons, Alan McDonald of Clifton, Va., and Brian, Kevin and Douglas McDonald, New Albany; two daughters, Janet Hughes and Mary Catherine Johantgen, both of Clarksville; a brother, Joe Brockman of Bradford; two sisters, Helen Sinkhorn and Mildred Stewart, New Albany; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Home will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday. She died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was the former Kelsie Hall, a native of Floyd County and a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Clarksville. Funeral services for Emma Lou Miles, 75, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25 at Kraft Chapel, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004 at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. She was a native of Warrick County, a retired schoolteacher from the New Albany-Floyd County School System, and a member of Depauw Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Carl O. Miles; a son Alan Miles and his wife, Brenda, Charlestown; four daughters, Ruth Fort and her husband Arthur, Baton Rouge, La., Diane Turner and her husband, Jerry, Georgetown and Connie Jackson and her husband Don, Hopedale, Ma.; three sisters, Rosena Lankford, Huntingburg, Henrietta Stephens, Holland, and Jo Shipman, Huntsville, Texas; and nine grandchildren. Visitation at Kraft Funeral Services, 708 E. Spring St. in New Albany, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. She died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at her home. She was a native of Floyd Knobs, a former employee of both the old St. Edwards Hospital and Floyd County Hospital and a member of St. Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons, Donald and Robert Missi, Floyd Knobs; four daughters, Maurice Engle, Borden and Martha Engle, Mary Becht and Ida Mae Kaelin, all of Floyd Knobs; a sister, Sr. Francine Ackerman, Ferdinand; 37 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Peter L. Missi, 65, a retired farmer, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Infirmary, Louisville. A native of Salem, he resided at R. 1, Borden. Missi was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church at Starlight. His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Idabell Ackerman Missi; three sons, Marvin and Donald Missi, both of Floyds Knobs, and Robert Missi of Charlestown; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Engle of Borden, and Mrs. Joe Kaelin, Jr., Mrs. Jacob Engle and Mrs. Richard Becht, all of Floyds Knobs; a brother, Valentine Missi, New Albany; a half-brother, Edward Missi, Floyds Knobs; a stepbrother, John Herbst, St. Joseph; a sister, Mrs. Clarence Fenwick, Floyds Knobs; and 32 grandchildren. He died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. He was a Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28 and retired from MKM Machine Tool Co. in Clarksville. He was also a lifetime member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Starlight. Survivors include his wife, the former Martha Lee Schmidt; a son, Michael Missi and his wife, Becky, Starlight; two daughters, Vickie Armes, New Albany and Myra Batliner and her husband, Joseph Batliner Jr., Floyds Knobs; four sisters, Viola Eckert and Evelyn Hodges, Sellersburg, Charlotte Wilson, Scottsburg and Edith Grantz, Starlight; two brothers, Eddie Missi, Floyds Knobs and Roy Missi, Sellersburg and four grandchildren, Eric Missi and wife, Amber, Allison Missi, Bryan Batliner and Amy Batliner. Death of a Old Settler
The Jeffersonville Republican records the death of Mrs. Rebecca Morgan, at the age of 80 years, who had been a resident of that place for fifty-six years, and was said to be the mother of the first white child born in Clark county---- Mr. M G Pile . Her father  removed to Indiana when it was a dense wilderness After her marriage, the deceased went to reside at Springville, the first county seat of Clark ( no longer in existence), where with Mr. Pile, her first husband, she entertained the first Court ever held in that county.

MAYFIELD

Lawrence Eugene Mayfield, 58, Lanesville, passed away
Saturday, May 4,
1996 at Wedgewood Manor Nursing Home in Clarksville, Indiana. He was
a native of New Albany, a retired employee of Reynolds Metal Company in
 Louisville, Kentucky and a member of the Antioch Christian Church in
Elizabeth. Survivors include his wife, the former Beulah May App, a son,
 Keathan Lynn Mayfield, three daughters, Bonita Sue McGuire,
Cheryl Ann Dailey and Sheila Kay Teeter, two brothers, George Daniel Mayfield, and
 William Elliott Mayfield, four sisters, Lucille Elizabeth Stewart, Martha
 Lorraine Richert, Doris May Taylor and Pauline Marie Chaffin, and 10
 grandchildren. Services were conducted Tuesday at Seabrook - Dieckmann
& Naville on Oak Street Funeral Home in New Albany

MARKLAND

Obit: NALS 1 Feb 1873 p4 c4: Mr. John Markland died of smallpox at his residence in Howard township last Wednesday. This the only case which has resulted in death, in this county, so far as heard from. [header of this article is illegible.]

MILLER

Henry . Miller, of Sanesville, Clark county, was killed while, coon hunting last Friday. He was chopping down a tree to get at a coon, when a dead limb fell, striking him on the head.
