1920,
in Clark County. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her

Rose Meyer; and a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Paris. Survivors include her
children, Kenneth Paris, Larry Paris and his wife, Mimi, Ann Castleman

this city, John F. Paul Sr., 64, died

2:10 o’clock Sunday afternoon at his home at 310 Illinois Avenue in

A patternmaker for the American Car and Foundry Company, Mr. Paul was a
member
of the Knights of St. John, the Red Men, the Holy Name Society and St.
Anthony’s
Catholic Church, Jeffersonville, and the Catholic Community Center, New
Albany.
Among the survivors are two sons, both in the armed services, John F.
Paul Jr., is with the U. S. Air Force in England, and Robert C. Paul is
stationed
at the Naval Training School at the Great Lakes. Other survivors

Lawrence S. ”Doc” Rose, who spent
40 years as a teacher in the New
Albany
school system, passed away Sunday at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was
83.
A native of Booneville, Ky., Rose taught Biology and Chemistry at New
Albany
High School from 1931 to 1970 and was head of the Science Department at
the
school for many years. Rose received his B.S. and M.S. from the
University
of Louisville and also got a PhD in Bio-Chemistry from the same
university.
Rose was a long-time member of the Depauw Masonic Lodge, having been
initiated
in 1923. He was also a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He is
survived
by his wife, the former Hazel Miller; two daughters, Laura Jackson of
Jeffersonville
and Barbara Kochert of New Albany; and six grandchildren. Friends may

Earl Rudolph, 64, died yesterday at
Washington County Hospital. He
was
a native of Palmyra, a retired vice-president at Peoples Trust Bank in
Salem
and a member of Borden Christian Church. Survivors include his wife,
the
former Betty Simpson; a son, Chris Rudolph; three daughters, Earlene
Brown,
Debbie Love and Lori Kiesler; four brothers, Arvil Rudolph of
Georgetown,
Alan and Melvin Rudolph, both of Corydon, and Norris Rudolph; six
sisters,
Verna Emerson of Byrneville, Virginia Duvall of Ramsey, Darlene Lang of
Pekin,
Frances Stinnett of Georgetown, Carol Sue Smith of Borden and Georgia
Rudolph;
and seven grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Love Funeral
Home,
with burial in Palmyra Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today, 9
a.m.
to 9 p.m. tomorrow and after 9 a.m. Friday.

A retired farmer of near Floyd
Knobs, Charles Alonzo Rusk, 84, died
Wednesday
in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alice Rochner, at Georgetown. Survivors
also
include another daughter, Mrs. Hazel Byrne Georgetown; four sons,
George
and Perry Rusk, both of New Albany; Raymond Rusk, of Louisville and
Charles
G. Rusk, of Indianapolis and thirteen grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
The body is at the home of Mrs. Rochner. Funeral services will be held
at
2 o’clock Friday at the Georgetown Methodist Church. Burial will be in
Fairview
Cemetery.

Berniece C. Russell, 89, died
Saturday at Floyd Memorial Hospital and
Health
Services. She was a native of Floyd County, a former Girl Scout leader,
a
former volunteer at Joseph Rauch Inc. and Carnegie Center and a member
of
Floyd County Historical Society and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic
Church
where she was a member of the senior citizens group. Survivors include
her
husband, David J. Russell; a daughter, Kathy Smith of Floyds Knobs; a
sister,
Carletta McLaughlin; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services
are 11 a.m. tomorrow at the church, with burial in Holy Trinity
Cemetery. Visitation is noon to 8 p.m. today at Kraft Funeral Service,
Spring St.,
New Albany. Memorial gifts may go to Providence Retirement Home or
Catholic
Charities.

Funeral services for David J.
Russell, 89, New Albany, will be at 11
a.m.
Monday, April 11 at St. Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church, with
burial
in Holy Trinity Cemetery. He died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Providence
Retirement
Home. He was a much-loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and
friend.
He was a native of New Albany, born April 9, 1915 to James L. and Ethel
(Murphy)
Russell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Berniece C.
Russell,
his brother James J. Russell and his sister Mary Russell Medley. He was
a
member of St. Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree
member
of the Knights of Columbus, a World War II veteran, member of the
American Legion, a Rotarian, a 1932 graduate and senior class president
of Louisville’s
St. Xavier High School, past president and chairman of Community
Federal
Savings & Loan, past president of the State Savings & Loan
League
of Indiana, director of the Federal Home Loan Bank, director of the U.
S.
Savings & Loan League, two-term president of Community Chest,
director
of Catholic Charities, director of Humana of Southern Indiana, member
of
the Floyd County Historical Society and a member of the New Albany
Country
Club. Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Smith and husband, Don;
grandsons
David C. Smith, Denver, Matthew L. Smith and wife, Danette,
Minneapolis,
and Christopher R. Smith, Minneapolis; great-grandsons Benjamin, Tyler,
Luke
and Grant Smith, all of Minneapolis; sister-in-law Mary Tighe Russell,
New
Albany; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank
everyone
for their kindness and thoughts at Providence Retirement Home,
particularly
Father Ken, Sister Agnes and Betty Rhodes, his very dear friend.

will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, April 10, at Kraft Funeral
