Vincennes Indiana January 6 1913 Lewis Thomas, 23, theatrical man, and Tillie Daffron, 18 year old daughter of William Daffron, announced tonight that they were married June 5 last at Lawrenceville, Ill. Mrs Thomas said her father's objections caused them to keep the affair a secret

A surprise to their many friends was occasioned this morning when Bayard K Lucas, of the Vincennes Publishing Company and Miss Matilda Daffron who was formerly Mrs Louie Jones were married in the parlor of the first Presbyterian church in the presence of the immediate families of the couple. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A B Brand, pastor of the church and united the unusually popular young people. It took place promptly at 9 o'clock and immediately after Mr. and Mrs. Lucas departed for Chicago where they will enjoy a honeymoon. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Lucas 302 north fourth street and is Secretary and Treasurer of the Vincennes House Furnishing Company, one of the leading business concerns of the city. Miss Daffron is a young woman of unusual beauty and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Daffton 1824 Fairgrounds Avenue. (Year 1914) |

Mr. and Mrs. W.H.Daffron Wed 55 years Today Mr. and Mrs. William H Daffron 1910 North Harding Street will pass another matrimonial landmark today___the 55th since they were married at the old cathedral in Vincennes. The couple were married May 4, 1886 and lived in Knox County until 23 years ago when they came to Indianapolis . On a trip to Mobile, Ala, the home of two of their children, occupied the winter of the Daffrons. Attending services at the Old Cathedral at Vincennes and visiting Mrs. Daffrons sister, Mrs. William Marchino and brothers John Convery and Harry Convery, they will be included in today's celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Daffron have two sons, William Daffron of Ogden Utah and Mike Daffron of Mobile. and two daughters Mrs Edith Draime of Mobile and Mrs. Emma Young of the Harding address |
