BAUGH

Noble Baugh, 84, of Bloomington, died at Meadowwood Health Pavilion Thursday morning.  Born June 13, 1921, in Bloomington, he was the son of the late Robert M. and Retta (Lintz) Baugh.  He was retired from Ralph Rogers where he operated heavy equipment; he also was a former deputy sheriff with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of Central Wesleyan Church of Bloomington, He was a life member of American Legion and VFW in Bloomington.  He is survived by one son, David K. Baugh of Bloomington; one daughter, Terri Mullins and her husband, Mark, of North Carolina; two sisters, Reba Rice of Bloomington and Ruby Claspel of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Tamara Baugh, Debra Cannon and Aaron Mullins; several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Beryl ( Jackson) Baugh; three sisters, Ruth Gonce, Evelyn Patrick and Bernice Lavender; and two brothers, Paul Baugh and Kenneth "Buck" Baugh.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Day Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Hayes and Rev. Mark Mullins, officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery where the Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct military honors.  Friends may call at Day Funeral Home, Sunday 2-8 p.m. and one hour before services on Monday. –unknown source

 

BAXTER

Death of an old soldier - Another old soldier has answered taps, James Baxter, aged 74, died yesterday afternoon at his home near Payne in Salt Creek township. He was born on the spot where he had spent all his life.  When the call to arms was sounded in the Civil war he enlisted in Co. G. 31st Regiment and served throughout the struggle.  He leaves a wife and two children.  The latter are Mrs. William Baxter and Mrs. Mary Robertson.  The funeral was held at eleven o'clock today in charge of Rev. Aley and interment took place at the Hughes cemetery. - Bloomington Evening World - 15 May 1908

Death Claims Samuel Baxter - After an illness of more than 3 years of tuberculosis, Samuel Baxter, a well known resident of Sanders, died yesterday at 4 o’clock.  Mr. Baxter was 37 years old and was a hard working and respected citizen of his community.  Besides the widow he is survived by the following children, Vila, Goldia, Thelma and one stepson, Harold; his mother, Mrs. Mary E. Robertson, a brother, John Baxter, a half brother, Elza Robertson, two half sisters, Mrs. Hattie Fletcher and Sylvia Robertson, all of this city; also Mrs. Omer Wagoner of Lafayette and Mrs. O. R. Wilson, of Indianapolis, two half sister.  Funeral services will be at 2 o’clock tomorrow form Mt. Ebal church in charge of Rev. Levi Burnsworth, and burial in the adjoining cemetery. - Bloomington Telephone , Monday, 08 February 1926

William Baxter, 74 year old retired farmer, died at the home of his son, county clerk, Earl Baxter Bloomington Route Three, Sunday at 4:15 p.m.  H had not been well since he underwent a major operation last July 4.  He is survived by the wife, Rosa; another son, Clarence of Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Ora Hill, Bloomington Route Three, Mrs. Harry Hays, Denver, and Mrs. Russell Hancock, Bargersville, Indiana; several grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Born in this county on January 10, 1873, he was the son of James O. and Amanda Smith Baxter.  He had been a farmer all of his life, living near Paynetown at the time of his death.  He was a member of the Paynetown Pentecostal Church, the Redmen and Haymakers lodges.  Last rites will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock at the Clear Creek Church with Rev. George Deckard officiating.  Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.  Honorary pall bearers will be Ed and Henry Bender, Walter Peterson, A. A. Bruner, John Richardson and Oscar Hudlin.  Active pall bearers will be Thomas, Fred and Gilbert Scales, William P.. Baxter, Clarence Hensley, and Robert Sipes.  The remains have been returned to the family residence in Paynetown. – Bloomington World Telephone, 20 January 1947, Pages 1 & 2

BRANAM

Mrs. Minnie Branam, wife of Lawson Branam, died suddenly at 11 o'clock Sunday at her home on North Grant Street. Her death was due to uremic poisoning. The deceased was 32 years old and was the daughter of Calvin Hedrick of Brown County. She leaves two sons, Charles, 5, and Ernest 18 months. Funeral services at the house at nine o'clock tomorrow. The interment will take place at the Payne Cemetery near Dolan. – Bloomington Weekly Courier, 04 Jan 1911, Page 001

Mrs. William Branam died yesterday morning at her residence on South Rogers street after an illness of several weeks of typhoid fever.  She leaves six children and a husband to mourn her loss.  The remains will be interred at Dolan today. - Bloomington World, 02 August 1896, Page 04

BRANNAM

James Brannam died in Washington township on the 26inst., after a brief illness.  He was 49 years of age.  His daughter-in-law Mrs. George Brannam died on the same date of consumption, aged 18 years.  The double funeral was held last Sunday. – unknown Bloomington newspaper, 3 February 1894

BRASSFIELD

The wife of Allen Brassfield (Nancy A.), of Indian Creek township, died on Wednesday of heart disease, aged 45 years – unknown Bloomington newspaper, 17 March 1894

BURNS

The three week old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Burns died Apr. 9, 1924. - Bloomington Daily Telephone, 10 April 1924.
