ANGOLA,
Ind,
Sept 13—Benjamin S. Fanis and Mrs.
Maude Crandall were married at 8 p
m Sept 10,
1918. at Coldwater,
Mich,
at the home of and by Rev. Samuel Stroh,
who is an uncle of the bride.
This marriage is the culmination of a friendship of several years'
standing and
was to have taken place some time In November In Tulsa
Okla,,
where
they had expected to remain the greater part of the winter. Owing to
conditions
following the death of Mr. Fanis'
father and his call home to register, their plans have been thus
changed, Mr. Fanis
is an engineer of machinery, and
has been employed for a number of years by the big oil concerns of the
country,
both In the United States and Philippine Islands, and unless he enters
the
service, expects to return west after a few weeks here to resume his
work for a
time. He at one time belonged to the U. S regular army and saw three
years of
active service during the Spanish-American war and the Cuban
insurrection, and
wants to do, his part again In whatever capacity he can best serve.
These people are well known in Steuben County and have a
large circle
- of
friends who will wish them many years of happiness. |

HAMILTON,
Indiana June 12 - Lythwin,
only son of Mr. and Mrs. Burr Gates,
a local merchant and Miss Rose Kohle,
a former resident of Steuben County were married yesterday afternoon at
5
o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Kohle at Edon, Ohio the Rev. Mr. Jameson of the Methodist Episcopal
Church officiating. The groom is a graduate of the Hamilton
High School. The bride is a highly
cultured woman and a most successful teacher, having had
charge of the primary department here the past year. The couple will
start
housekeeping at once at Pleasant Lake,
where the groom
recently purchased a grocery store and is also a rural route carrier.

LIGONIER,
Indiana July 16 - Announcement is received here of the marriage of Dr.
Glade E. Rupert, dentist of this
city, and a
recently returned soldier, and Miss Hilda Eshelman,
of Wolcottville. Samuel A. Pence,
eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. ?W Pence,
of Angola, formerly of Ligonier, was married recently to Miss Lola E. Wines, of near Waterloo. Mr. Pence, who
was but lately mustered out of the service is deputy auditor of Steuben
County. |
