App, Joseph Charles
Joseph Charles App, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky,
passed away early yesterday at his home in Hardinsburg, Indiana.
He was 73. App lived here 64 years before moving to Hardinsburg
upon retirement about nine years ago. He was last employed here
by the Maloney-Davidson Company. He also worked for the American
Express Company and Stewart Dry Goods Company. Survivors include
his wife, Gracie Truman App; two sons, Edward Lee App, Hardinsburg
Indiana, and Joseph Andrew App, Louisville, Kentucky; three daughters,
Beulah May App, Hardinsburg Indiana; and Jessie May Martin, Louisville
Kentucky; Mary Charles Robinson Louisville Kentucky; five
grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at
1:00 p.m. tomorrow at Hunter Funeral Home, Hardinsburg Indiana.
Burial will be at Kays Chapel Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Indiana.

Jonas
Jonas Berkley, father of Mrs. John Cochran, died at his home in Salem
Indiana. Mrs. Cochran leaves for Salem tonight, accompanied by
her husband, son Charley and Dr. Neal, a son-in-law of the deceased.

New Albany Ind., Mar
27--Mrs Sarah Pitts Davis, the oldest woman in Washington County, died
yesterday at her home, near Salem, at the age of ninety-nine. She
was the mother of Mrs. Sheridan H. Sowles, of this city. She was
born in North Carolina and moved to Salem ninety years ago. She once
owned the land on which the town of Salem is located.

Marshall, Ora
Miss Ora Marshall, 51 years old, who
was born and reared near Horner's
Chapel, died Wednesday morning after a long illness at the home of her
sister, Mrs. Dallas True, near Martinsburg, where she had made her home
for a number of years. Besides Mrs. True, she is survived by
another sister, Mrs. Wavie Judd of Milltown and four brothers, Claudie
Marshall of Salem, Eldon Marshall of Palmyra, Charles Marshall of
pekin, and Vessie Marshall of Tulsa Oklahoma. Funeral services
were conducted at the Church of Christ at Martinsburg, Friday afternoon
at two o'clock by Russell Martin of Martinsburg, with internment in
Horner's Chapel Cemetery.

Ora Myrtle, eldest of a family of seven children, of
the Late Samuel S and Sarah May Purlee Marshall, was born May 30 1885,
departed this life May 12, 1937 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Dallas
True of Pekin, Indiana with whom she had made her home for the past
fourteen years, at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 12 days.
She united with the Church of Christ at South Liberty in early life and
remained in that faith until death. She leaves to mourn two
sisters and four brothers Mrs. Dallas True of Pekin, Mrs. Wavie Judd,
Miltown; Claude of Salem, Eldon O. and Charles of Palmyra, and Ves,
Bartsville, Oklahoma; besides a host of near relatives and
friends. She had been in failing health for several years,
but was cheerful and bore her suffering without complaint unto the
end. She will be sadly missed from teh family circle and by her
many friends in the community.

Roy Marshall Dies after Long Illness- Roy Marshall, 65, of
Martinsburg, died Tuesday at the Clark Memorial Hospital following a
long illness. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Susie Marshall; two
daughters Mrs. Otho Trueblood of Salem, and Bernice Marshall of
Martinsburg; one son Gale of Martinsburg and a brother Charles of
Martinsburg. Funeral was held at the Martinsburg Church of Christ
Thursday. Interment was in Martinsburg Cemetery.

Martin, Perry
Perry Martin dies at hospital at Elgin IL
Perry E. Martin, 39, son of the late Oliver P and Minnie Martin of near
Martinsburg, died Thursday in the Veterans Hospital Elgin IL. He was
removed by L.A. Uhl to his funeral chapel here Friday, and later taken
to the home of his step-mother Mrs. Celia Martin, near
Martinsburg. Besides his step-mother, he is survived by his son,
sister Mrs. Vida Smith, four half brothers, Orville, Verlin, Vilmer,
and Glenn Martin, and one half sister Edna Roberts. Funeral
services were conducted at the Church of Christ, Martinsburg, Sunday
afternoon.

McPheeters, Cora E
Miss Cora Elizabeth McPheeters, 54 years old, died Monday morning at
the home of her niece, Mrs. Mable Williams, three miles south of
Salem. She is the daughter of Mr & Mrs Ed McPheeters,
formerly of the Horner's Chapel vicinity, who survive her and also make
their home with Mr. & Mrs. Williams. She is survived by one
brother William McPheeters of Martinsburg. Funeral Services will
be at Horners Chapel Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by
the Pastor, Rev. R.E. Coleman of Fredericksburg with internment in
church cemetery.
