India Irene Webster

Died at Belle Plaine, IA Feb 23, 1894, India Irene Webster, aged 25 years, 10 months and 29 days.

Deceased was born in Vinton County, OH March 24, 1868. She was the third daughter of Samuel and Jane D. Webster, formerly residents of Jefferson twp. but now reside in Belle Plaine. Some three years ago she had an attack of la grippe and this winter another attack from which she never rallied. All that medical skill and willing hands and loving hearts could do was done for her yet she passed away. Great was her suffering yet she murmured not nor complained. She was resigned to what was awaiting her, selected her pall bearers and those who should conduct and preside at her funeral and gave directions for her burial.

Leaf by leaf the roses fall;
One by one our dear ones die.
O, to keep them with us still
Loving hearts send up the cry.
Parents, brothers, sisters dear,
Fading like a mist away,
Father, let us keep them here,
Fearfully to God we pray
No, she said, my sisters, do not pray to keep me here. I want to go home; I am not afraid to die. I am ready, awaiting the summons to call me away.

Rev. L. G Ruhn preached the sermon at her funeral from Isa 27:12, Ye shall be gathered one by one.
