Erasmus Frizelle; Last Saturday another old and respected resident of this county, Mr. Erasmus Frizelle, closed his eyes in death after a severe illness, which had been, however, but of brief duration. Mr. Frizelle was born in the state of New York, May 6, 1801, and thus was, at the time of his death, nearly eighty-two years old. When he was yet quite young his parents removed to Ohio, and here he resided for many years. In 1831 marrying the lady who continued to share life's trials and triumphs with him till death called her hence about five years ago. Soon after their marriage they removed to Madison County, New York, where they lived till the year 1861, and were nine children were born to them. In the year 1861 they removed to this county were they have resided ever since. Of the nine children of Mr. Frizelle six are still living. The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Monday, Rev. J. A. Ward officiating. The Masons, of whose order he had been a member for 60 years, had charge of the ceremonies at the grave. Mr. Frizelle was the oldest mason in the city, and indeed there are few lodges which can boast a member who has been with the order for 60 years. Mr. Frizelle was a man of honor, respected by all his acquaintances. His was a long and happy life and at a ripe old age he has rounded out a full career.

* The Independence Bulletin, Death of Emma Frizelle, Buchanan County, Iowa, July 1881:
This community was startled last Friday by a telegram announcing the death of Miss. Emma S. Frizelle, of Cincinnati, which occurred at noon on that day, at her home in the city. The tidings were the more startling as no news of her illness had been received here. The first reports were to the effect that she had died from sunstroke, but we have since learned that congestion of the liver was the immediate cause of her death.

The deceased was born in the State of New York, and twenty years ago came to this city with her father's family, remaining here until five years ago, when she went to Cincinnati to reside with her sister, Mrs. Cook, where though her kind, generous nature, she won many friends, who join with her family in there sad bereavement. Both here and in Cincinnati her kind, pleasant ways and smiling face will be long remembered by those who knew and appreciated a true, noble woman.

Mrs. Cook accompanied the remains of her sister to this place, were she was buried Tuesday. Mrs. J. C. Ransier, another sister, residing in Minneapolis, arrived, but too late for the funeral. She will remain a few days with her friends here, and then return to her home.
