Butler County Fair

The Butler County Fair will be held on September 6, 7, 8, and 9 this year. Plans are being made for a number of new features and attractions. A midweek change in the free attractions has been arranged.

The directors of the Fair Association met on Thursday to appoint the superintendents in the different departments and to let the printing of the 1926 Fair Books. They also set a budget for the money to be used for baseball and for the music during the fair.

Special school books will be printed and will be out in a short time. Entries will be suitable for school children.

County Board of Supervisors - Road Work

The county board of supervisors and Engineer D. W. Burch have completed plans for this year's road work in Butler county.

The new five mile stretch west of Allison will be graveled, which will leave six miles unimproved on No. 10 west to the Franklin county line. The county's allotment of primary road funds is insufficient to complete No. 10 this year.

Folkers, John B. - Hardware Merchant

John B. Folkers, hardware merchant, spent Thursday and Friday at Dubuque on business.

Jan Franken,

Jan Franken, residing west of Allison, reports a record egg production during the month of March, made by his flock of Rhode Island Whites. A total of 4,476 eggs were received during the month from 260 hens. The flock is pure bred and above market price was received for the eggs, which were used for hatching purposes.

Highway Commission

The Highway Commission, through the state development fund, will complete No. 5 from Austinville to the four county corners. County Engineer, D. W. Burch will be in charge of the work for the state.

The road at the west edge of Parkersburg will be relocated and a 200-foot steel bridge will be constructed across Creamery Creek. Primary Road, No. 5 will be resurfaced from Sinclair to New Hartford and other resurfacing projects will be completed on No. 14 and No. 10.

There are 70 miles of primary roads in Butler county and only six miles will remain unimproved at the end of this year.

Milo Isaacson - Short Stop & Third Base

Milo Isaacson will try out for a place with Marshalltown, of the Mississippi Valley League this year. He signed a contract, which was delivered by Dan Wheeler, director of the Marshalltown club.

Milo has held down short stop and third base for local teams for a number of years.

Miss Aurene McCauliff spent the weekend visiting at Waterloo.

State Superintendent - Mae E. Francis

Miss Mae E. Francis, state superintendent, spent Tuesday in the county checking on the rural schools.
