Mrs. M. L. Bacon

Manson, Io., July 23. - The funeral of Mrs. M. L. Bacon, mother of Long Bros., editors of the Manson Journal, was held here this afternoon in a pouring rain. Services were conducted by the Eastern Star lodge and the Episcopal service was read by Rev. Mr. Moore, of the Congregational church. Mrs. Bacon died Saturday at 7 p.m. of after effects of pneumonia, after a lingering illness of three months. She was 32 years old, and a resident of Calhoun county.

Aimee Luella Bale

Manson, Io., June 29. - Aimee Luella Bale, wife of C. E. Bale, cashier of the Calhoun County bank, died here this morning at 2 o'clock, following childbirth. Mrs. Bale was a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. R. C. Glass, now of Seattle, Wash., but formerly of Sioux City, and well known there. The funeral will be held Monday, or as soon as Mrs. Glass arrives.

Ida Bergstrom

Mrs. Ida Bergstrom Passes Away at Home of Parents in Iowa

Mrs. Ida Bergstrom of 326 East State street passed away at the home of her parents at Lohrville, Iowa, last Wednesday. She was on a visit with her parents at the time of her death. She was 24 years of age. She is survived by her husband, Carl Bergstrom and one child. The remains were interred at Lohrville Friday.

W. J. Foley

Manson, Io., Aug. 15. - W. J. Foley, a retired druggist and a prominent citizen of this place, died this evening of cerebro-spinal meningitis.

Mrs. Rev. Herwig

Manson, April 23. - Mrs. Rev. Herwig, wife of the pastor of the German Evangelical Lutheran church, died here yesterday at 1 o'clock, of heart failure. Funeral services were held today at 3 o'clock p.m.

George Muslow

Manson, Feb. 14. - George Muslow, an old resident and one of the old men in this community, died last night of old age at the age of 76 years. He worked for one man forty years of his life. He was an Englishman and came to Manson when he first came to America.

Michael Powers

Michael Powers, who died July 28, in Lohrville, Io., was born in Ireland in 1794 and had been a hard worker all his life. He came to America in 1848, living for a time in Canada, then in Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois, finally moving to Allamakee county, Iowa, and in 1875 to Calhoun county, where he lived on a farm until recently. It is said that he remembered well hearing the news of the battle of Waterloo and other important political events early in the century. His wife, whom he married in 1822, survives him, as well as several children.

Joseph E. Price

Manson, Feb. 23. - Joseph E. Price, a prominent stock dealer of this place, died this morning at 2 o'clock. He has been in the stock business for several years and in other ways prominently connected with Manson business enterprises. His death was caused by lung fever, complicated with asthma.

Flora Ripley

The body of Miss Flora Ripley who died here Tuesday will be taken to Farnhamville, Iowa, today for interment. T. L. Errett will accompany the body to Farnhamville.

Mary Elizabeth (Huettl) Siemann

Mary Elizabeth Siemann - Formerly of Columbia

Lohrville, Iowa. - Mary Elizabeth Siemann, 97, Lohrville and formerly of Columbia, died Saturday, March 5, 1988, at her granddaughter's home near Lohrville.

Her funeral was at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lohrville, with burial in the church cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Huettl was born March 1, 1891, to Andrew and Theresa (Boehm) Huettl in Aberdeen. Her family moved to a farm near Colombia. On June 19, 1916, she married Francis (Mick) Siemann at Colombia. After their marriage they moved to a farm near Lohrville. Her husband died in 1964.

Survivors include two sons, Francis Siemann of Lohrville, and John Siemann of Jefferson, Iowa; one daughter, Sister Bernice, O.S.B., of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Teresa Huettl of Aberdeen, and Frances Missall of Turlock, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband and eight brothers.
