Death--Mrs. Pierce

A few evenings ago as Mrs. Pierce, the young wife of Wilber Pierce, of Mechanicsville, Cedar County, was sitting by the stove, her clothes caught fire while she slept, and she awoke to find herself enveloped in fames. No assistance being near, she rushed out of doors and was shockingly burned. On the night of the 17th she died.

Prior Scott, of Pioneer Grove, Cedar Co., Iowa, aged 75 years, married a woman named Ruble some time ago; she had a 16-year-old daughter. On Monday, the daughter gave birth to a child which she said belonged to her stepfather.
