Buncombe County - Created in 1851, its name was changed to Lyon County
in 1862.
Fox County - Created in 1855,
the name was changed to Calhoun County.
Kishkekosh County - Created in
1843 and named for a Fox Indian chief, the name was changed in 1846 to
Monroe.
Risley County - Named for a Spanish-American
War captain, this county was organized in 1851, and became
Webster County two years later.
Slaughter County - Founded in
1837, it was changed to Washington County in 1839.
Wahkaw County - This county, formed
in 1851, was renamed Woodbury County in 1853.
Yell County - Named for a Spanish-American
War captain, Yell County bordered Risley County to the
west.
