Anna (Hanson) Bachman

Mrs. Anna Bachman passed away Tuesday night in Colonial Acres Rest home, Rock Falls, after an extended illness. Born Jan. 21, 1890 in Hancock County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Chris and Martha Anderson Hanson. She was a member of the United Brethren Church at Goodell, Iowa. Her husband, John M. Bachman preceded in Nov. 1945.

Surviving are three sons, Elmer C. Bachman of Klemme, Iowa, John G. Bachman of Des Moines, Iowa and Walter E. Bachman of Sterling; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Vera) Osborne of Rock Falls, Mrs. Thomas (Madeline) Dalab of La Crecente, California, Mrs. Kenneth (Gladys) Reynolds of Sterling, and one brother, Alfred Hanson of Neva, Iowa. There are 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded by one son, one brother and four sisters.

The body was moved to the Melvin Funeral Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 this evening (Wednesday). Thrusday morning the body will be taken overland to the Johnson Funeral Home at Klemme, Iowa for visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church at Klemme, the Rev. Byron Surface, pastor of the United Methodist Church at Ventura and Goodell, Iowa, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Amsterdam Cemetery at Goodell, Iowa.

Reika Northmeyer Bande

Wesley, Jan 6; Mrs. Reika Northmeyer Bande died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Hansen and husband who live in the Joe Miller property.
Mrs. Brande was 81 years of age and had suffered for some time with a heart ailment. She was married in 1892 to Fred Bande who preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at German Reformed church north of Wesley.

Rose McMannus

Funeral services were held Wednesday after at 2 o'clock at the Bohn Funeral Home in Garner for Mrs. Rose McMannus of Garner, who died Jan., 1. Burial was made in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery at Britt.
The Rev. Willard Cunningham of Garner, was in charge of the last rites.
Rose May Burdick was born at Stroughton, Wis., July 21, 1875, a daughter of John H. and Elizabeth Burdick. When ten months old she accompanied her parents, a brother, and three sisters to Britt. They came by covered wagon arriving in Britt in May of 1876- six years after the beginning of the town. The family lived on prairie farms for a few years, then moved to Britt.
Rose Burdick spent almost all of her life in Britt. She was married to Charles McMannus, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethel Baptist church in Britt. At death she had reached an age of 75 years, 5 months, 10 days. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Luella (Lowell) Conrad, of Kanawha; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ella Bowker, of Garner; several nieces and two nephews.

Agnes Bell Thomas

Agnes Bell was born July 18th, 1848 in Westman, England. She came to America with her parents at the age of 9 years.

She was married to Richard Thomas, January 31st, 1807 at Hazelgreen, Wisconsin. They came to Hancock County in 1879. Seven children were born to them, Edgar A., Elmer H., Frank L., Charles R., Mabel B., Oscar and Osmar T. All survive them except Osmar who died in infancy. Richard Thomas died July 5th, 1895.

Mrs Agnes Thomas died July 28th, 1903. Age 55 years, 10 days. She was a member of the Congregational church and a devoted mother.

W. C. Wells

Manchester, Ia., March 1, Special
Mrs. Fred W. Ford received word on Sunday of the death of her father, W. C. Wells, at his home in Garner, Iowa.

Mr. Wells was 96 years old and was next to the oldest inhabitant of Hancock county, where he located before the railroad was built. He had been a Mason more than sixty years and until recently had suffered little from the infirmities of age.

Mr. and Mrs. Ford went to Garner on receipt of the message and attented the funeral, which was held on Wednesday. Mrs. Ford expected to remain after the funeral , but Mr. Ford returned here.
