MOUNT PLEASANT, IA. -
A De Witt youth was killed near here Sunday afternoon when a mobile home he was towing whipped his station wagon out of control and put it into a ditch. Killed outright was LeRoy V. Hairing, 17.

His mother, Vivian, 46; a sister Vickie; 11, and a brother, Bradley, 6, riding with him, in the station wagon, escaped with minor injuries. Deputy Sheriff Carl Hill said the accident occurred on U.S. Highway 218 about 6 miles south of here at 1:10 p.m.

He said the mobile home apparently started to "whipsaw" and the youth lost control of the station wagon. The two vehicles broke apart. The car plowed into the ditch and overturned. The trailer continued along the highway for some distance but remained upright.
