Jasper County, Iowa Dearinger CemeterySection 27, Elk Creek Township This is a very small cemetery, that originally had an acre of burial ground. Over the years land owners have encroached on the cemetery until there is a very little area left. A number of years ago several graves were removed and re-buried in Hewitt Cemetery on the East side of the Hewitt Cemetery. The only remaining graves have the surname of Dearinger. Those few graves have a fence around the graves which is located in the middle of landowners field. [Submitted by Juanita Alloway]

IOWA, copied by Mrs. Roy Loven, June 1975: "There had been a small cemetery located in Section 27 of Elk Creek Township, but several years ago it was moved to Hewitt. The stones were placed on the east side of the cemetery. There are still two stones located in this cemetery as the owners of the land were not given permission to move hese graves. They are fenced in. The names on these stones is 'Dearinger'." Info provided by Juanita Alloway KS
