Obituary - Emily Bruce Randall (Marshalltown Times Republican Jan. 25, 1901)
The funeral of the late Mrs. Emily Randall, wife of I. W. Randall of Conrad, will be held at Conrad,
with interment at the cemetery of that place. Mrs. Randall who, with her husband, was one of the
older residents of this county died Tues. after an illness of less than a week with the grippe.
She was 76 years of age and resided between 30 and 40 years on the old Randall Homestead, 8 miles
north of this city in Vienna Twp. The time for the funeral was set for Sat. to enable Mrs. Rowena
(sic-should be Rozina) Cleaver, a daughter of the deceased to arrive from Santa Ana, Calif.
Mrs. Cleaver is expected today. Mrs. Randall leaves 3 sons and 4 daughters.
The sons are A.W. Randall, Conrad; Charles and Perry of Vienna Twp. The daughters are Mrs. Alva Stewart
and Mrs. Robert Eckles of Taylor Twp., Mrs. Cleaver of Santa Ana, Calif; and Miss Minnie Randall who
eides at the family home in Conrad.

Obituary - I. W. Randall (Marshalltown Times Republican Thurs. Sept. 22, 1910)
I. W. Randall , one of the former well-known old farmers of Vienna township,
and a resident of Marshall County for 37 years, died at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Alva T. Stewart, 112 North First Street, Marshalltown, at
9 o'clock Friday morning.
Mr. Randall's death was due to the general infirmities of old age. He had
been in feeble health for many years, but had been bedfast only about 3
weeks.
Mr. Randall was born May 28, 1823, at Lewistown, Niagara County, New York, and at the age of 14 accompanied his parents west,
settling in Rock County, Wis., on a farm. In the same county, in Dec., 1847, Mr. Randall took as his wife, Miss Emily Bruce,
who died 9 years ago when the family was living here. Upon coming to Marshall County in 1865, Mr. and Mrs. Randall settled on
a farm in Vienna Twp, where they lived until 10 years ago last spring, when they moved to this city. Two years ago Mr. Randall
and his daughter Minnie, who kept house for her father following her mother's death, moved to Marshalltown, to make their home
with the daughter and sister, Mrs. Stewart.
Mr. Randall is survived by 7 children, Mrs. Rosina Cleaver, of Pomona, Calif.; A. W. Randall and Mrs. Robert Eckles, of Conrad;
Mrs. Stewart and Miss Randall, of Marshalltown; Charles Randall, who lives on the old home place; and Perry Randall, of Boise, Idaho.
Eighteen grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive. A half sister is living, in the person of Mrs. Samuel Miller, of Clinton.
Mr. Randall was a charter member of the Congregational Church at Shopierre, Wis., and also of the church in Marshalltown.
Upon moving to Conrad, he united with the Presbyterian Church, from which the funeral was held Sat. afternoon at 2:30, in charge
of Rev. James Rayburn, of Marshalltown. Interment followed in the Conrad cemetery.
All of Mr. Randall's children were at his bedside when the end came. At the funeral 6 of the grandsons acted as pall bearers.
As a mark of respect the business houses all closed during the hour of the services.

MRS. J. F. RAY, 60
Funeral Rites to Be Thursday Afternoon
Mrs. Effie May Ray, 60, wife of Jesse F. Ray, died at her home 1537 N. Jefferson, Tuesday after noon, following a short illness. She was born Feb. 16, 1885, in Putnam county, Mo., and had been a resident of Mason City for the past 19 years.
Surviving are her husband, 2 sons, Floyd and Emmet Phipps, Marshalltown; 3 daughters, Bonnie Bonner, Mrs. Leola Kahler, and Mrs. Blanche Rodgers. all of Mason City; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Pottoroff, and 2 brothers, H. G. Branstetter and Jesse Branstetter, Green City, Mo.
Five grandchildren, Betty Jane Reece and Shirley Jean Sims, San Diego, Cal, and Dorothy Ellen, Helen and Harry Emmet Phipps, Marshalltown, and 2 nieces, Mrs. Clyde Watson and Mrs. Glen Thornton, Jr., and 3 nephews, Michael Dennis Thornton, Harry Glen Thornton and Harold Ray, all of Mason City, also survive.
Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dorisada Phipps, a sister, Maude Mills, and a brother, Glen Branstetter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday at the Patterson funeral home, with the Rev. Wilbur F. Dierking, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. A service also will be held at Green City, Mo.,
on Friday. Burial will be at Green Castle cemetery. The Patterson funeral home in charge.

Jessie Forrest O. Ray, 82
Jessie Forrest O. Ray, 82, of 203 North Main Street. Albion, died Saturday, March 31, at his home.
Following cremation at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory, memorial services
will be held Tuesday, April 3, at Fellowship Baptist Church, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Edwin Hannahs, officiating. There are no visiting hours scheduled. Private family burial will take place at a later date. A memorial fund has been established to Iowa River Hospice or the Jessie Ray Memorial Fund.
Jessie was born September 16, 1918 in Greencastle. Mo., the son of Ople L. and Inez L. (Phipps) Ray. The family moved a bit during his childhood. He was raised and educated in Eldora, and La Rae, Miss. He was married to Ruby V. Miller on December 11, 1939 in Unionville, Mo. They made their home of 55 years on 2431 Sand Road. He was an Army veteran of World War II, enlisting from October 1944 to November 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star during his tour of duty.
Jessie is survived by daughters Doris (Mrs. Steve) Toensfeldt, of Park Rapids, Minn., DiAnn (Mrs. Harley) Murra of Marshalltown. Sue (Mrs. David) Schmidt, of LeGrand, Patsy Ray of Albion, Leila "Lucy" (Mrs. Rick) Davis of Albion, son Earl "Buster" (Carol) Ray Sr. of Albion, sister. Wilda (Pat) Patterson of Milan, Ill., brother-in-law. Dale Miller of Albion 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. He was a loving and giving father.
Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby on December 23, 1988. his brother Harold, his sister Helena Douglas, his daughter Lynda Vedbraaten, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
