Ocheyedan-  The highest point in Iowa, Hawkeye Point, is located a short distance from Ocheyedan.

Sibley- Named after Henry Hastings Sibley, a General during the Dakota Conflict of 1862. He also became the first territorial governor of Minnesota.
William L. Harding, governor of Iowa from 1917 to 1921 was born in this city in 1877.

Hawkeye Point is the highest elevation in Iowa. Located approximately 4.5 mi. north of Sibley on the eastern side of Highway 60
and approximately 3.5 mi. south of the Iowa-Minnesota state border. It is at the southern end of the cattle feeding trough on a farm.
