Duffy ~ Phinney
Mr. Frank Duffy and Miss Ethel Phinney were married at the home of the grandmother of the bride, Mrs. J. A. Melandy, of Alpha, Minnesota, Sunday, September 3. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S, Barnes of this city. The groom is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Duffy. They will make their future home at Ft. Dodge. Further particulars have not been learned. Their many local friends have heard with surprise of their marriage. All will, we are sure join the Democrat in wishing them health and happiness.

Mr. & Mrs. John Iams
Married Sixty-Nine Years
Mr. and Mrs. John Iams, of Ruthven, Palo Alto county, have several claims to distinction which probably no other couple in the state can make. They have enjoyed 69 years of wedded life. They came to Iowa eight years before the state was admitted to the union and have lived here continuously since. Mr. Iams is 89 years old and his wife is 87. Their children, seven sons and one daughter, are all living. Their first-born son is 65 yeas old. They live with the daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Young, of Ruthven.

Potter ~Burlingame
The marriage of Rev. Thomas P. Potter of Graettinger, Iowa, to Miss Alma Burlingame was consummated at 8:30 o’clock Wednesday evening at the home of the bride’s parents at 514 Hickory street, Rev. J. Q. Robinson of the Lyons Methodist Episcopal church performing the ceremony in the presence of about 75 guests. The functions of groomsman were performed by Percy Luce while Miss Sue D. Burlingame, sister of the bride, attended as bridesmaid.
A reception and wedding supper followed the ceremony. Those present from out of the city were J. W. Potter of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Benson and family of Camanche and Mrs. John Long of Folletts.
Mr. and Mrs. Potter will depart today for Graettinger where he is pastor of the Methodist church. Both are well known in the city, the groom having formerly resided here and the bride having been a teacher in the public schools of this city.
